Okay, a few questions from Steve and I ...

1. Anyone with pros / cons for vaulted ceilings versus flat?
2. Should we be concerned with the 'west facing lanai' heat? Is n,s or e lanai facing best?
3. Television / phone/ internet... Comcast... is that our one option (if we don't want Dish) ?

Thanks so much for being here! :O))

to TOTV.

The answer your question about starting a thread.
1. Go to the "home" page.
2. Select the appropriate dicussion thread. For example, the questions you asked would be in "The Villages General Discussion".
3. Cick on "post thread" and type in your heading and question.

I hope this helps you. Keep on posting.

OR you could listen to folks who live here with west facing lanai's.

We have one.

We like it just fine. At some point of the day, the sun is gonna shine on you.

A west facing lanai is nice in the cooler months. NO place is nice in this heat except in the air conditioning.

Just sayin, Whoopeedoo and Boy Howdy and....I was gonna sing the thunder song.but Ohio girls are properly raised.

Welcome. We moved in our "forever home" the end of May. Best decision we have made in a long time. Still learning the ropes, but loving it!!!

I purchased my house last July and immediately put it on the rental market. I had no problem finding renters. By September I had the house rented from October through April. I sold my home up north, retired and moved here May 19th and feel like I landed in paradise. Life here is beyond my expectations.

Here is my experience regarding your questions:
1. Vaulted ceilings (creates wonderful volume).
2. I have a west facing lanai. I thought I would not be able to use it in the summer, however, I have been enjoying it every day and I find it very comfortable. I have added insulation to the roof of the lanai and that made a big difference. I also added vertical blinds which I close for a few hours a day to block the sun when it is at its most intense.

Good luck with your search.

Welcome, Debi & Steve!
We are south of 466-A in Fernandina, and just got Bright House (on Tues.) for Internet, TV, and phone. So far we are pleased, and our installer (Chris) was great to work with. Call Paul Muniz directly (search for him on TOTV) for a great deal that is not offered through the toll-free # for Bright House. We don't know if Century Link is offered in our area.

Hi Debi! My wife and I are building in Gilchrist as we speak. We intentionally chose a lot with an east facing lanai to keep the sun at bay during the afternoon and evening. After reading a lot of posts concerning phone/internet/cable, I think I'm going to go with Brighthouse initially.
