Default For women who moved to TV on their own!

I am a 59 y/o single female - I plan on moving to TV in the near future. I am a bit apprehensive since I will be moving there alone. I would love to hear from any female that made their move without knowing anyone. Thanks for any help or advice!!!

Hi vb...
I am a widow who came down to rent for three months to see if the lifestyle was for me. I was totally alone - didn't know a soul. The lease started on 1/1/09 and two days ago I bought a house here....I have met some wonderful people since I've been here and have definitely decided to make TV my home. I'm not saying it was easy at first - kinda scary to be honest - but if you go out and try things here everyone is friendly and helpful...people just are happy here - they are open and make you feel at home. I decided to try anything that was of some interest for me and each day I met more and more people (I've also found out I have two left feet and can't line dance to save my life). If you decide to come to TV, you'll be ahead of the game - you already know me! Email me when you arrive and we'll get together for some girl talk.........

Hi Charlene, Thanks so much for writing be back. I guess any change is scary. I live in Miami and it's time for me to start a new life somewhere else!
I have visited TV once and had a good feel about it. Now I just need to sell my house!

Hi Vivian...
I can identify with your feelings - I needed to start anew also. I come from NY (long island) and my house is almost sold - the NY paperwork for closing is unbelieveable!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for your sale...Email me anytime!

I came to TV on my own and had no problem fitting in. I just went to events or clubs that interested me and talked to people. A few months later a friend of mine moved here - that was nice but I had already begun doing many things on my own. I would suggest coming to the Single Sports Social Women's Club which meets the third Wed of the month at Canal Street. There are about 150 members (single, divorced, widowed etc) - we have a great time - many activities and day trips. We go out to dinner, shopping, movies, golf - just about anything you can think of. My friend started this club 3 yrs ago and it is still growing. You will love it here.

Charlene,
A bit of a highjack, but being from NY I know what you mean.
Got the bid on our house on LI about Sept 15, 2008.....scheduled to close
March 4, 2009! Where are you? We live in Garden City South.
NY red tape
Hope you both sell your houses and we can all one day be neighbors.

I'm a single widowed male and I have the same issues, I to am a little apprehensive. I'm looking for a new start and tv seems to be the place for me. TOTV has many such posts and the answers seem to be very positive.
I dont know if it is any different for men or ladies but a new start is daunting and even though I'm excited to get there I'll still be there alone.
Sorry to but in ladies.

Hello Vivan...

Put your fears behind you, move on down and jump right into the many activities; your social calendar will be full in no time.

Who knows, you may even meet up with a "Mr Wonderful" here; I came here alone and met Mr Wonderful and we've been happily married for three years now. It usually happens when you least expect it, so c'mon down and join the fun and, who knows what the future holds.

We at least guarantee that you will never be lonely, unless you choose to be alone.

Hugs, Barb

I bought a house last year and use it part time. I am single and have no problem- you can be as active or as solitary as you choose (or both if you choose in the same day). People are very friendly and welcoming. There are so many things to choose from - just pursue what you enjoy and maybe try a few ones. Being single is not a hinderence here- just smile and return people's friendliness and you'll enjoy it here.

Arrow Welcome!

Hi VB, you'll be just fine. I'm married, but we have lots of singles in the gang we hang around with. And you'll find the same thing all over The Villages. You'll be amazed at the activities and the people you'll meet. When they say your social calendar will be filled up, they're not kidding! Have no fear what so ever.
