We also bought not one, but two Yamaha gas carts when we moved in. The first one purchased outside the villages, the second at The Villages Golf Carts. We decided on gas because we figured we would be able to go a lot further and not have to worry with the maintenance required for a battery cart. We bought two because there are times when we want to go in different directions and don't want to take the car. We do like the convenience of the local dealer and service.

Bought a new gas EZGO from Dave at Advantage Golf Cart. Wide range of cart options and a really wide range of colors. Great service. No negatives from me. The store is located on 44 across from Sparr and behind the old restaurant.

There is a debate re: environmental impact of electric vs gas. We chose gas bc of range; didn't want to risk being stuck somewhere; the batteries impact environment bc require daily charging and add to pollution when discarded upon replacement; and although the putt-putt noise of gas adds to noise pollution, it is a small safety feature in that the noise also helps fellow cart path users, pedestrians in parking lots and squares and vehicle drivers know we are there.

That said, once jimbo's priorities switch from his home to the solar carts, I intend to check the solar option for our second cart.

Hi A-4 Skywalk,
We are not the one's with the dobermans. No pets just 3 adult kids still living at home. As soon as we can move them out and sell our house on Long Island we'll be moving to Gillyland! Can't be soon enough.

Yes I get bored and change gears

Lead is recycled at about 98% it is the most eco friendly of all metals for that reason.

The carbon footprint is 20% of a gas cart.

In fact today someone sprung a oil leak in there's a new thread was started, now that's pollution.

Oh my opinion may be somewhat bias

I wonder who those people were with the dogs?? Gilly Wannabee's probably. Good luck with the kids and selling the house. Do you have a design date on 210.114??

20% wow!! Didn't know the difference so great.

The solar cart concept sure is something worth considering. I'm hoping that it proves to be a viable alternative for our needs.

BTW: how is your cypress floor and ceiling project coming along? I keep meaning to watch for your other thread for photo updates.

Default Thanks for the warm welcome !!!

Hello everyone,

Bruce and I wanted to thank everyone who welcomed us with open arms at the Gillybration this past Friday at Evans Prairie as well as all the help and welcomes on TOTV. Even though we had tons of hiccups and problems during our design appointment we have finished it and hope the house ends up our dream house. Not happy with the problems with not doing the stretches we were promised in writing, and at first request the villages is not willing to do anything at all to compensate us other than they offered us the ability to choose another lot, AT CURRENT RAISED PRICES. We had our lot on Vicksburg Ave. reserved for 5 months, and at the design appointment they said "so sorry, so sad, and sorry we promised in writing and on a layout, but you can't do those stretches, but we will stretch it as much as we can". Needless to say we were not happy campers. On top of that, our first designer was desperate to get out early and insisted that we had to make all of our choices in one day and finalized the next, and was tired, disinterested and rushing us from one house to another before we were ready. She even started packing up her stuff before 4 p.m. the first day while we were trying to bring up a couple of changes we wanted. We had had it and refused to deal with her anymore and got a new one assigned. This has not been a heavenly visit or time for us, and our design was more like "Dante's Inferno". SO MANY DROPPED BALLS !!! Our sales rep unfortunately told the designer we were so prepared and sophisticated that we will make snap decisions...our designer took that way too literally in our opinions. BUT GILLY'S, WE REALLY ARE NICE PEOPLE WHO ARE EASY TO GET ALONG WITH NO MATTER WHAT THE VILLAGES EVER TELLS YOU GUYS !!! I think we were too easy going it it came back to bite us later on. Oh well, it is over and our close is scheduled for April 10th...we will be coming in regullary to check progress so keep us informed of any get togethers. We hope to meet others we didn't get a chance to talk to or meet this past week... Thanks again, Marcy and Bruce Snell

We're also concerned about the design appt which we haven't set yet. On the stretch problem...did the lot you chose not accommodate the stretches you thought it would? Our lot is very deep but we can't stretch wide...but we knew this beforehand. Maybe u should pass on the name of the "disinterested designer" so we make sure not to get that one. I'm afraid we're gonna be difficult as we've always built custom homes & our choices here are very limited.
Keep in touch,

Well, I'm hoping you have either a soft landing pad or a couple of sure-handed Gillys standing by, just in case.

I'm guessing by now Jimbo has about 14 sets of plans for us to pick from.

I will send you a private message. However, I must warn you, I don't believe they will allow you the time to even become "difficult" and it is definitely not an unlimited design process. They seem under strict rules to keep things rolling as fast as possible and seem very tired and overworked. But I love the villages enough that we had to suck up a lot of our frustration.

I've seen these things up close and personal. Good call on being the bartender! Depending on how long the ride is, people tend to stop pedaling bc from either fatigue or the effects of "fuel" consumption. On the plus side, as opposed to bring stranded in a golf cart, at least you'll have a supply of fuel available to party where you stop.

Also, fuel consumption makes those seats somewhat "wobbly" better be belted into them just in case.

No only two,
now what I need you to do do A-4 besides taking pic's of that hole in the ground is do some strategic dumpster diving for for good 2x4's and 2x6's at the job sites, oh a few sheets of that make believe plywood as well.

And we'll get started,

I think Carol should be the designated driver this whole thing was her idea therefore, she should be the responsible person.

Now Rusty as bar tender...that should work
