Default Lifestyle Preview as a Single

I would love to hear from any singles who have done the Lifestyle Preview. Were you able to meet up with anyone for lunch or dinner, dancing, golf, etc. Please point me in the right direction. I just posted this on the Singles forum. I'm not the type to just walk up to people and start a conversation or walk into a restaurant to dine alone.

I'll be down during the 1st week of November for a Lifestyle Preview. Sorry to add to the 85% of woman singles. I've been reading TOTV for two years now and I'll be making my permanent move in 6 - 9 months.

My immediate concern is meeting up with a group of singles to dance, golf (beginner), go out to lunch and dinner. I'm a little nervous about being alone for a week and not being able to meet up with anyone. I know what there is to do, but I'd be reluctant to walk into a bar, restaurant, country club, golf course or to a dance by myself without some kind of introduction. I wish I could be there for the Singles Exp because it sounds like a lot of fun.

Thank you to all the regulars on this site for the great info. I think by now I know more about The Villages than some residents.

Hi! Congratulations on getting this far! I will be in the same situation in a year or two. I plan to bring at least one friend or relative whose opinion I value. I know two couples who live there, and by that time will be ready to meet some people from TOTV. I bet there are single people on TOTV who already live there, and would volunteer to join you at an event or two.

Single Track:

to TOTV.

I understand your concerns and having someone to hang out with is the best option. I am a male single who has done two LSV's and I haven't had any trouble meeting people. People are very friendly and with the slightest of effort, you will meet several people.

Hopefully, kathieI and chachacha will see your post and help you in knowing where to dance and meet people.

Thanks or posting and have a great time in TV.

If you're Single and want to meet someone this forum is a good place to start. You should go back to your profile and add something in the "About Me" portion, and if you'd like a picture could help as well. Just a thought from a Single Man's view

Default Welcome

Hi.... I'm not single, but ended up taking a vacation alone once as the girlfriend who was to go with me had an emergency. I found it to be scary, then calming and by the end of the week, I had more invitations for lunch and dinner then I knew what to do with. I'm sure once you get there and learn the lay of the land, you will be surprised how easy it is to meet people.

When you do get there, don't just sit in your villa... Get out there and see what it's about! I used to travel and so many people would order room service and never see the town they were in... Make yourself get out there!!! You will be glad you did!

I would also guess, there will be people on here who will be happy to show you the ropes... so to speak!

The main thing is to get down there and check it out!!!

And most of all... Have fun!

Jim Staz,
Thanks for directing me to the "About Me" section; I didn't know it existed. I forgot to add to my interests that I like to travel esp. cruises and I also like to gamble on occasion. I'll see if I can edit.

Sent you a PM, and you will find it in the top right corner where the Welcome is. Chachacha I can vouch for ; she's like a Saint Bernard bringing you a Brandy in cold weather as she will make you smile.

Don't rule out couples. I am part of one and don't choose my friends according to their singleness or doubleness.

I am sure that after we get to know you here on TOTV that you will have a lot of invitations to stop by. Please let mine be the first.

Keep Posting and WELCOME to you!!!

P.S. Jim is right about ChaCha.
She is so dear.

Default I did a short LSP and moved in about a month later...

I'm a single who was a double for a long, long time. I, too, was a bit worried about how I would fit in and what I would do for restaurant dining (which I love) and a drink at a bar. As it turned out, I closed on this villa in the
afternoon, then walked across Lake Sumter Market Square and ambled up to the outside bar at Urban Flats (City Fire), took a seat and ordered a drink. People simply started chatting away and celebrated my closing by buying me a glass of wine and some cheese and crackers! That was it...so simple and easy- and dispelled my fears of being (like the song), "All By Myself"! You will love TV.

Great story and said much better by you.

It reminds me of what my nephew said to me when I wanted to meet someone. He said, "you have to put yourself out there because they are not going to be mailed to you".

Just sayin...........

Single Track, I haven't done the official "Lifestyle Preview Visit" yet, but I rented by myself in July (north side of TV-Village of Chatham) and I'm renting again in October (south of 466, closer to Lake Sumter Landing). Lots of nice people in TV. Definitely drive the golf cart around TV and don't worry about getting lost. People will help if you pull over to the side of the golf cart trail and take out the $5 map of TV. Hope you enjoy your visit.

Where do you get a warm welcome when you haven't even arrived?
Ask the people in the Villages. I feel better all ready about my LPV in November. Thank you so much for the private messages inviting me into their groups.

It's funny when I tell people that I want to move to TV, their response is always "oh that's the place where everybody rides a golf cart - it looks like a fun place". If they only knew how much fun you people have. Hope to join up with you soon.
