Default home security

I have finally solved the water softener search which was quite the challenge. I am now beginning the search for home security systems and do not want to go with an existing company. I am looking for advice and or products.

Just received and about to self install my "SimpliSafe" system. Easy to install and you can customize your system to fit your needs. If you want it monitored it ranges from about $15 to $25per month. They have an excellent customer service department. Google SimpliSafe or add a .com at the end to get to the website

I also have SimpliSafe. Very good company and system. We opted for the $25 monthly monitoring mainly for the iPhone remote access.

There are also alternatives that have NO monitored charges if you are interested. For these you need to have a phone line in the house (phone service via the cable company). These systems will typically dial you and if you do not answer, up to 4 other numbers. Do a google search for Do it yourself alarm systems. Read the user reviews. Hope this helps.
NOTE: I am a firm believer that that a loud local alarm, some cameras, are very effective at stopping the bad guys, however, you do miss the fire and carbon monoxide alarms that you typically get with a monitored system.

Thumbs up Security system

We have the SimpliSafe system and are very satisfied. We had it tested last week with an unexpected entry into our home while the alarm was on and it worked. The alarm is very loud and brought all of the nearby neighbors out. The police showed up about 15 minutes later after the monitoring company tried to reach us first. Easy to install and inexpensive. Highly recommend it for those who want just a little more protection than the dog offers.

For those who have the Simplisafe system, do you have a Verizon module, or T-Mobile? We live in the Village of Hillsborough and I'm concerned about cell coverage here. We have an AT&T cellular home phone system and AT&T cell phones and have never had a problem, but AT&T is not a choice with Simplisafe, and I have not heard/read good things about T-Mobile coverage in TV.

Thanks.

A rottweiler will solve all your issues, and then some.

Another vote for SimpliSafe... best we have ever had hands down. For most people you will want to request the Verizon module not T-Mobile. Price is the same.

SimpliSafe is your best bet and for those of you listening to those saying get a dog or don't get it monitored; don't let two fools meet. Any person out there knows that a dog can be taken out and an unmonitored system will do you NO GOOD in the middle of the night when your alarm goes off and you're asleep when someone comes in your home. DON'T BE A FOOL!!!

So far no one has come into the house when people are sleeping. Wait...I take that back. There was one incident and they had two dogs. This was from the bunch last year about this time. They did catch that guy.

Yes, a dog is a deterrent. Is a dog 100% infallible?
Of course not, although I do have a couple of dogs comparable to a rottie.
Did I say not to have a system monitored?
No, however, a barking/growling dog is an alarm system to a homeowner in the middle of the night.
Most dog owners know what different sounds from their dog mean.

I will tell you that someone breaking into your house in the middle of the night is one of the most horrifying things you can experience.
I say this from personal experience.
