Smile Recommendations for Gutter installation

Hi everyone!
My wife and I have just purchase a courtyard villa in Lake Denham.
When the rain is heavy we notice it runs down and through the lanai screen.
We are thinking of installing some gutters around the side and back of the house.

Has anyone else recently done the same? If so what contractor did you use? Were you happy with their work? Anything we should be aware of, or contractors we should avoid? Etc. Finally, how much would this typically cost?

Appreciate everyone’s input and guidance.

Thanks,
John Russo

We went with the Guru Gutter Guys. Very happy with the work and it's part of team that does Solar and Roofs.

Stipes and Hills are the heavy hitters here. Both are very good. Call both and go with whoever can get there first.

I do expect to call the suggested vendors.
We already have gutters all around.
We need the downspouts extended further away from the house.....7 locations......mix of white (house) bird cage attached to house (bronze 6").

Do you know if they do small jobs like this?

If you are just talking about extending the gutters across the lawn, this is an easy DIY project, and the big box stores all carry the downcomers. You could also use splash blocks for an even easier project. Now if you are talking about the buried corrugated drainage lines and the popup covers, then yes these are more work involved, and many of the local landscape companies can do this, we had ours done as part of the landscaping years ago, and I have lost the contact info.

Brian Terry Vinyl. Also ask them about screening in your entry area. It will keep the lovebugs and other critters out.

I’ve thought about gutters, but haven’t decided. I live in a courtyard villa. It has gutters wherever the end of the roof is horizontal, but not in the back, where the end of the roof is at an angle. The lanai has screens on two sides. I’ve thought about installing a gutter just above the screening on the end where there the roof is at an angle (see photo—much enlarged). However, we often get rains here where the rain falls obliquely and a gutter wouldn’t help. The rain hits the screen and some of it goes through and lands on the lanai. (On the long side of the house, rain sometimes beats on the windows, wall, and sliding glass doors, even though for some rains the rain falls straight down and the gutters handle it.)

I’ve wondered if it would help more to install 12” or 18” eaves above the rear wall of the lanai, rather than a gutter. Then a lot more of the rain would land away from the house. I assume this would require approval from the ARC.

I also have a screened in lanai and I also had your problem. I had the gutters installed over the length and it did indeed help. But, when the rain/wind is blowing into the lanai from the north, it still floods. Stipes did the work

Stripes +1 (352) 390-7744 doing our patio home this week. $900 6”gutters. 6” gutter does water better and less downspouts.

We used Stipes for our gutters about 2 1/2 years ago. Very happy with his work and pricing. We went with the 5" gutters on our Designer home. Even in the heaviest rains, and there have been many, the 5" have never come close to being inadequate. One advantage with the 6" is that you would need fewer downspouts. Not really an issue for me, as all downspouts run underground to popups in the yard.
