Default Shuttle launch

Monday morning's shuttle launch may be the last nighttime launch. Are they all visible from The Villages and which direction is the best? 4:14 a.m. is the scheduled time. Thanks.

It is worth getting up for. You will see a very bright light along with the smoke plume. It will rise in the southeast, climb up through booster separation, then will appear to drop back towards the horizon as it continues up and around the curvature of the earth. You can't hear anything from here.

It is best to watch the launch on TV, then when it clears the tower, go outside and enjoy the view.

Watched it this morning, 90 miles away and we saw the blaze in the sky. Also saw the seperation of the boosters. OK, back to bed.

Perfect night to see it. Cool and crisp and very clear sky. It was fantastic. We enjoyed it but it sure was cold being outside in my jammies.....

Default Shuttle Information and Facts

Below is a copy of a previous thread from a couple of years ago it is a great video of a night launch from here in The Villages. Thanks to Mr Rietz for doing this.

Enjoy...

Also an interesting article about a Villages resident who worked on many shuttles. There several retired NASA employees living in The Villages and they are very interesting to talk to.
