Default It is fun to ride there in your golf cart?

I guess the answer lies in why do people eat at Evans Prairie although they live in Mira Mesa or why do people enjoy musical events at Church on the Square at Spanish Springs and travel from Duval? Why do artists travel from one side of the villages to the other to attend art studios in different rec centers. Why do golfers play every course in The Villages?

Most people do NOT consider moving about the villages to attend activities they like to be a hardship. AND more importantly, all rec centers, pools, and all activities are there for all villagers. So a softball field if built south of 466A would be used by all softball players all over this town.

as someone married to a softball fan I can tell you they DEFINITELY need new fields. And the two shown on the map will NOT be enough. The guys in neighborhood now have to play at 2-3 pm and that is not good as all softball players know. It's just not enough fields for the amt of people living here. Would like to hear from softball players in the new neighborhoods.

to have to travel everyday in your golf cart from Gilchrist to Saddlebrook would be ridiculous. Much too far. we were considering buying in new section but the lack of softball fields, stores, gas stations, etc is really holding us back. It may be too risky. What if they do NOT have them in future??

Heartnsoul? You don't live here yet? I am so surprised. You really ARE doing your due diligence, and becoming part of the community.

Didn't you promote the Baby Boomers Club?

I will be at the Villages in July, looking at homes and that is also my main concern, purchasing in the new section, because, I like to be near restaurants, shopping and a large rec. center, because I like to stay in shape and workout, so my plan is to look at older homes around 466 and homes in the new section.

Its a big decision buying my last new home, I just want to get it right the first time.

The last lot in our new village on 466 is now being built on. You would have been such a nice neighbor.

We love our house off 466. It is so convenient. I am pretty sure there are still lots in Mission Hills?

I do live in the villages that is why I am so familar with all around us. We were wanting to move to new section however getting too far away for softball for hubby. also no shopping, gas stations, restaurants, etc out there is a Major concern. Also can't find right property. Just all up in air on what to do. Purchasing in new section now is a problem as nothing is out there. Are we guaranteed to have everything out there?? Probably NOT. So when buying yes location is important. We were looking at a piece on wetlands but now your "mold" statement has me concerned so have second thoughts on that. Yeeks this is becoming almost impossible.

Whats this all about? He just asked a good question about new softball fields. Seems like you gave him a lecture.

ok just met with RE agent. ONLY ONE is shown on new map with ONLY two fields and she said who knows what they would use it for possibly women's teams, etc... So it does NOT look good for softball players moving out in new area. Just an update for the folks interested. It would be a very long drive from Collier over to Saddlebrook everyday.

My husband is a player/manager in both the recreation leaque and the neightborhood league. I go to a lot of softball games. Even if new fields were to be build south of 466A, it would not solve the problem of distance Games would be scheduled at Sandlebrook, Buffalo Glen and the new fields. Just because you lived in Gilchrist etc wouldn' t mean that you would not play at Sandlebook. All teams would be evenly divided among the fields but not necessarily by village. All softball fields are for everyone not just nearby residents.

Apple pie.......is there a neighborhood team representing the Village of Fernandina? Thought since your husband was active in softball you might know.........or.......direct me to where I could research subject. I have been on softball site and don't see a team.

Thanks in advance.

Checked with hubby. As of now, there is no team from Fernandina in the neighborhood league. Fernandina is such
a new village that sometimes it takes awhile to get one started. Check with the rec department. They can tell you how to start a team.
