My wife and I moved here earlier this summer. We love it here and have absolutely great neighbors, but the problem is that we are considerably younger than they are. We are both in our early 50's. Also, I still work while my wife does not. While we are enjoying ourselves, and have joined a few clubs (including the Baby Boomers), we're having trouble meeting anyone who is around our age group. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

My hubby is 53 and I am 49, and we have met many younger villagers right here on TOTV. Come out to the monthly luncheon at Crisper's to meet everyone. We also have met many young villagers in our neighborhood in Hemingway. Go to some activities in the rec centers down in the newer neighborhoods.

I'm 50-something and know many 60- and 70-somethings who seem as young. When we were back in school, even just a few years age difference was huge in terms of maturity and outlook. Now age seems less significant.

Or as Bob Dillon said, "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now".

I agree with the wisdom of this post. (Especially since now that we've been here for a couple of years, my husband and I realize that at ages 58 and 61 we are actually not among the 'youngest' in age here in TV, as we had originally thought! Yikes! What a reality check that was!)

I am 51 and wife 48. We have had no problems making friends. In the group we are best friends with ages go from us up to high 60's. We get along great.

We haven't made it to The Villages yet (doing a Lifestyle visit at the end of this month) but I'm inmy mid 50's and hubby is mid 60's. Our group of friends here in NC range from late 40's to early 70's. We all get along great. Some work, most don't. But one thing we all have in common is we love to party! We have some great get togethers. Anyway, my point is I don't think age matters. It's just a state of mind.

Age is just a number, I`m 58 and my wife is 45, our neighbor is 70 and there is know way I could ever keep up with her.

I agree that age is just a number, but as a 53 yr old, when the dinner conversation ultimately turns to dr.'s appointments, aches & pains or what happened during WWII, I do yearn for a younger crowd. Just my opinion.

care what age you are, or your political affiliation or religion to determine if you are compatible.
TV is an active retirement community. I am sure most of us have seen retirement communities that are the other end of the spectrum and in between.
Excluding health or emotional issues beyond ones control, we all have the option to be as young as we want to be.
For some advancing years provide the social escape mechanism for either doing or not doing what one wants to ....or not.
Attitude is the main ingredient.

I choose not to limit my life's opportunities, experiences and enjoyment because of such as parameters of age and political affiliation or race or religion.

Remember "young" is as relative a term as is "old"....whereas younger or older fits almost any age....eh?
I only need to know my age to get the benefits that come with it (while they last).

No truer words were ever spoken. Age is just a number. Gary you must live next door to me.... I'm 68 and I can't get the young ones to keep up with me at night dancing. They poop out!! Think I'll have to find younger friends.....

And to Texasfal... in a blink of an eye, you will be there, kiddo, so enjoy it while you "think" you have it.....
