Default Heading toward the good life!!!!

After much research and information gathering (much of it from this forum, thank you to all), my lady and I spent a week down looking at various homes. Didn't think we would, but we bought one on our first visit!! Closing in October but won't be moving down til we retire next fall. Home is coming unfurnished and we'd like to rent it during the winter. We'd welcome any ideas about furnishing the home and rental information.

thanks so much,

Steve and Holly

Welcome to the start of your adventure. Hope it's a blast.

I was advised to duct-tape my hands together when I came for my first Lifestyle Visit. You know what? I was the one who would have had to remove that tape, as my agent was so laid back and I had to call him to look at more homes. I figured it would be high pressure and it was quite the opposite.

I was very interested, but my wife was adamant about not retiring to an "old age community". I was blown away by TV, and it didn't take my wife more than a day to completely change her mind.

2 1/2 great years here, so far.

Glad to hear you're so happy. We're really looking forward to living the "good life". It's going to be pure hell to sit through another New York winter knowing I own a wonderful home in sunny Florida!!!

Congratulations! Yes, the agent doesn't have to do a hard sell. Did you have drinks at the Happy Hour which is practically all day? The happy hours are so inexpensive, it makes one so happy and our check moving hand just keep on signing. That's what happened to me. If you are not a drinker, there is some special portion in the water you drink in TV restaurants I believe. Definitely, there is magic in the air.

Welcome to you. We live here year 'round and love it.

I know you will too.

On furnishing your house, there are many resale places that have a WEALTH of good quality and lovely furnishings and accessories in a myriad of styles and in excellent condition.

Bargains and Treasures near 301 and 446, pick up FOUR truckloads a day and you can easily furnish your whole house just from them.

Also Southern Lifestyles and Showcase Direct, furniture stores both owned by the Morse conglamerate have a complete list of all the items needed to rent a home through them, plus blue prints of every model and tiny little furniture pieces like jigsaw pieces that can be fitted into the blueprint.

Just ask any questions on here. You will find a lot of helpful information.

Default Renting

Hi Steve,

There is a list of things that your house will need before renting.
Maybe your sales agent can get that for you. There are different fee's
for the people who will manage your property. We rented our home for
about 5 years with some ups & downs. We drove a U Haul with some
furniture & other miscellaneous stuff from DE. We only had a week to
move in & have it turned over to a property manger. I am sure there
are more informed people then me that could add to this.

Congratulations & Good Luck

Congratulations! We close in October, as well : ).

We have bought some of our furniture from Showcase Direct in Spanish Springs. Not only do you get a 5% Village resident discount, but they also deliver free. Southern Lifestyles in LSL offers the same discount and free delivery. We ordered our mattresses and washer/dryer from Sears in Minnesota because of a great sale they were offering. They are also delivering free.

Thank you so much for the information - Just not sure if we'll be able to coordinate the full amount of shopping needed to furnish the house before the winter rental season.........We might actually try and rent it out unfurnished with a 6 month lease.

Smile First time posting

Hi everyone in TVs. This is my first time posting. My husband and I were in TVs last September for the first time for a month and fell in love with the lifestyle. We came home and set a goal to get back ASAP. So much to do after 30+ yrs. Our house in on the market as of last week. We are planning on buying in Sanibel. Our realtor in TVs says we can't close in less than 30 days? We would like to close in 7-10 days. Has anyone closed on the house they bought in less than 30 days in TVs?

I hope I posted this correctly. Can't wait to get there!

From Ohio for now!

mko7152...welcome to TOTV. As a wannabee I can't answer your question regarding how fast you can close on house in TV, but I'm sure a TV resident will be able to answer that question. Hope you find the home of your dreams in Sanibel.
