Default we did it.....

Well we have been in tv for 3 days and bought a home... We bought a cute villa in Summerhill. After looking at 4 other homes we fell in love with this one.
We close on August 12th. Please keep us in your prayers that nothing happens. The people that we are buying from live in England. We are so excited that we cannot wait.

We will be renting out the villa in the tv home managment, any one out there that has suggestions, I am all ears !
We will not be able to move until are home sales (Michigan). So we thought we would rent it out untill then. Thanks again for all of you input... Hope to be a frog real soon.....

Babs,

How exciting. Congratulations! We're not too far from you in Springdale. All best wishes for a smooth closing and quick sale of your Michigan home.

Yea!

Congratulations! I've been to a few open houses while I've been here. It's sure hard not to take out the checkbook. Maybe I'd better not go to any more open houses while I'm here. Oh what the heck...gotta get some ideas for the future.

Hope your house sells soon!

Default Two Bostonians are on their way!

My husband and I bought a house in the Village of Buttonwood in December of last year. We've only spent a few weeks there because I was still working. On July 28th, I will officially retire from my full-time job. On July 29th, we will pass papers on the home we have lived in for the past 25 years in Massachusetts. We have a big dog who can't come with us because he would be so freaked out on an airplane and if we drove his arthritis would do him in (he's a big buck, 140 pound rescue when he was five weeks old) now he's 12. My adult daughter is going to take him for the time being. We plan to be snowbirds, once our condo is ready in September. Does anyone have any advice to newcomers who are shy and homesick? I know this is a wonderful new adventure for my husband and I, but I am worried about missing my adult children and my dog. My husband makes friends easily, but I'm a little "less outgoing" than he is, and wonder what suggestions you might have to make it a smooth transition. Our home in Florida is ready and waiting, and we're definitely on our way. What do you suggest I do to feel less shell shocked from retirement to Florida in one day? Thanks. Lil Chief

Lil Chief, You will find this to be a very friendly community. It appears that many folks from this forum are moving into Buttonwood. And you can meet many of us at Crispers on the third Friday of each month. Let us know when you will be down.

Lil Chief,
I'm only a wannabee at this point, but I believe every Thursday the Rec. Center bulletin comes out. I'm sure you can get one of those at any Rec. Center. Many classes and activities are listed there. Also, when I visited the Savannah Center today, there was a Summer-Fall catalog from the Lifelong Learning College that has many classes it in of all kinds: art, dancing, music, cooking, pickleball, aerobics, etc. Maybe get involved with volunteering at something that interests you. Volunteer opportunities were listed in the Daily Sun -- I believe the listing for volunteers appeared in Monday's edition of the Daily Sun but someone correct me if I am wrong. Best of luck to you in your upcoming move to TV.

You will feel right at home here, you'll see many MA symbols and stickers on carts as you drive around. You can join the Ma club or of course the Red Sox nation club. Just pick an activity you are interested in and go to a meeting or class, you will be welcomed. Also if so inclined sign up and go to Pickleball 101 class. i think summer is a great time to move here because classes are a bit less crowded and you are fully into things by the time the snowbirds arrive. We lived in same house in Mass for about 28 years so I know where you're coming from, believe me the transition won't be hard. Also our kids and grandkids love to come here because of all the stuff to do. See you soon !
