Publix expands vaccine distribution statewide
In a move to expand vaccination reach, pharmacies have partnered with the federal government in the first phase of The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. A few pharmacies in The Villages area such as Publix, Walmart, and Winn-Dixie are participating.
"We look forward to reaching more Floridians and ensuring that all eligible residents who want a vaccine are able to receive one. We will continue to utilize strategic partnerships and identify innovative ways to get more shots in arms and put Florida’s Seniors First,” Governor Ron Desantis said during a press conference at a Walmart in Jacksonville earlier this month. According to DeSantis, the number of Publix locations distributing the vaccine has grown from 325 to 600 locations. The next appointment slots open this Wednesday, February 17, at 7 a.m. EST for eligible customers. Publix plans to open the online booking portal every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as long as they continue receiving vaccines at the current rate. The Publix locations in The Villages include: Southern Trace Plaza 3475 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages Colony Plaza 327 Colony Blvd., The Villages Grand Traverse Plaza 2925 Traverse Trail, The Villages Lake Deaton Plaza 695 Kristine Way, The Villages Spanish Plaines Shopping Center 1566 Bella Cruz Drive, The Villages Trailwinds Village 5810 Seven Mile Drive, Wildwood La Plaza Grande West 1120 Bichara Blvd., The Villages Additional Publix locations in Florida can be found here: Publix COVID-19 vaccine locations | Business All appointments must be made online. Remember to bring proof of Florida residency to your appointment. For all other appointment opportunities, check Winn-Dixie and Walmart store websites for information. Maybe by the time they make it 60+ I'll actually be 60 and eligible to sign up. I'll be 60 in May.

In my neighborhood I created a multiple person/multiple computer group that would assist other neighbors trying to get a vaccine appointment, with moderate collective success. Only one or two computers out of 12 might get on, but we could then schedule up to 8 appointments if we were fast. Since the beginning of January we’ve scheduled 44 people.
Pay it forward! |

Wife and I tried 6x on two different computers. I got through once and then found out they apparently had filled all appointments. We finally got in and got the first shot last thurs out of the two required. The second one? We don't have an appointment. We were told they would contact us. Will it go well? Only good news. I read somewhere that we will shortly be awash in vaccines. I am far from an expert. Right now we have Pfizer, Moderna. with Astrozenica and Johnson and Johnson to be available soon. Testing of different brand compatibility, lasting of immunity not sure we have any more than guesses and gossip. |

I got my first dose at a Publix in Ocala and am scheduled to go back Mar 2 for the second shot. Is it possible to transfer that appointment to a Publix here? Or is that too complicated at this point in time?

Unable to get vaccine
I am 5 months short of 65 and extremely high risk. Have gotten appts twice , got there and was turned away strictly because of age! Very, very frustrating especially when I know that healthy people under 65 are receiving the shot and the most vulnerable , high risk people can’t
