Sumter County Issues Stay-at-Home Advisory
Sumter County Officials have issued a stay-at-home advisory in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19. The advisory will remain in effect through April 30, 2020. Citizens are advised to remain indoors except for these cases listed by the Sumter County Board of Commissioners:
Health and safety: If you need to tend to the health and safety of family or household members, including pets. Some examples include seeking emergency services, getting medical supplies or prescriptions, or visiting health care professionals. Necessary supplies and services: If you need to get essential supplies for members of your household, including your pets, and/or need to deliver supplies to others. This can include making a grocery store run, getting household consumer products, or obtaining products needed to keep households sanitized. Outdoor activities: Exercise is advised, but only when practicing social distancing protocols provided by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for COVID-19. Some good examples of individual activities include walking, running, biking, golfing, etc. Work: If it is necessary for you to leave to get to and from work. To care for others and religious needs: If you need to care for a family member, friend, or pet to provide spiritual support. Additional steps of personal responsibility: It is advised that residents take additional steps that involve: Practicing washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after being anywhere public, or after coughing and sneezing.

Agreed. If you read the declaration it says it is an advisory...meaning there are are no teeth attached to it. Still a good idea though and many of us have been doing that anyway so it doesn't change much for most of us.
