Default Another twist - What if an Ebola breakout and using Martial Law to control it

Someone said that the lack of response to the Ebola virus. What would be your take on the possibility that if an Ebola epidemic out break happened could martial law be implemented to control it, thus you end up with a socialistic government to protect the population. Man I need to write a novel.

Actually, that is not as far-fetched as it may sound at first blush. If this truly becomes an epidemic, which given the current level of incompetence or malfeasance makes it possible, people would be freaked beyond anything we've ever seen.

I can only imagine, for example, how the people on the Frontier airlines flight (ie Dallas nurse, 2nd patient) feel today. The Dallas hospital cafeteria is a ghost town ... a couple more instances like this and people won't want to fly .... and that's just for starters.

Obviously the stock market is shaking in its boots. Bad day.
Lots of unknowns and blanks to be filled in.

The real issue is one of geometric progression and infection ... which is why you want to nip this in the bud by closing off borders, stopping air traffic where appropriate. I have no doubt the USG will do that ... but only after the horse has left the barn.

Looks like the horse is well out of the barn already!

I just read a post on FB about "quaranteen" (I know I spelled it wrong) in our homes and would we have enough food to take us through. I have to wonder if much of this stuff isn't fear-mongering! Yes, ebola is a bad disease but we've had 3 people come down with it...so far. I'll worry only when/if that number increases exponentially. If we put ALL of the pieces together of what's been happening in our country and internationally over the past several years we'd have that novel for you DDoug! It could be a thriller and a mystery all in one!!

Here's the link I read....don't know if it's hype or not.

YOU COULD BE QUARANTINED IN YOUR HOME FOR UP TO 6 WEEKS, ARE YOU STOCKED UP ENOUGH TO DO THAT?

Doesn't bother me to get quarantined. Being prepared gives me a lot of reassurance.

Actually the question you pose is timely for two reasons. First the government's response is akin to a "Three Stooges" skit. Second, the Holiday season is upon us and as more cases materialize many people are going to be conflicted about traveling and people receiving those travelers will also be in conflict . what to do?
