Tks for the info - I'm thinking about changing from a voice phone to the full function Droid, I-Phone or something along those lines. Walmart sells the Straight-Talk plan and gives unlimited voice, data and internet for $45/mth. The carrier used is determined by the phone you purchase. I've always used Verizon because the coverage was always better (and my kids both have Verizon so we get a lot of "free" time talking with them.

Do you know which carrier has the best coverage in TV (4G)? Not yet having a smart phone, I'm unable to install the app you referenced.

Thanks again for sharing the info with us!

I read the title of the thread and was hoping it was going to be about AT&T finally getting some towers online along 466A!

I probably need to get into the 21st century sometime and get a smartphone. Until then, me and "myPhone" are doing o.k. - - - and waiting on AT&T to catch up with the times, too!

Thanks for the link though, batman. I'll hang on to the info!

Batman,
Thanks much! I downloaded and tested at my ATL home. It showed AT&T best here, which is good to know since it's what I have. Can't wait to test it down there.

BTW, if you are at home and use WIFI, you have to temporarily turn it off to test the cellular network. Otherwise it will test your WIFI signal-- which is also helpful but won't help you select a cellular carrier.

Default It works

I just downloaded the app (for free) onto my iPhone and ran the comparison, which took about 15 seconds.
It showed what I already guessed, and that is that Verizon (which I'm already using) is the best for my home location here in western PA.
It will be interesting to use it when in different locations.
Thanks for the tip.

I guess I'm in bad shape - AT&T - fair service, both Verizon and Sprint poor service. Too bad because I only use a cell phone. But, I do have AT&T for my cell service, so I guess I'm as good as it gets.

Default Sprint Service

I am living here since July of last year and I have Sprint for my cell phone. I have no problems with my service and I have never had a dropped call. I can use my phone in Rec Centers, Publix, my house and all over. I have a Motorola Droid, which I use too much, between calls, texting and the web.
I also keep a land line in my house for only one reason, on 9-11 all cell phones went down and the only way I could connect with my family was with a landline and on that day, many people I care for are in NYC and DC and without landlines it would have been agony waiting to hear from them. Its worth whatever I pay for it every month.

We also have sprint, but sometimes have trouble in Pennecamp with very weak signal and dropped calls. I guess that we are such a large community that some areas get good signal strength and others don't.
