Default Ants

I have very tiny ants in my dish washer. They're gone for a day after I wash the dishes, but they always return. Any idea where they come from and how to get rid of them once and for all?

Probably entering through your water line connections to the wall. You should place some bait in the diswasher when not in use. They will take it to the colony thus eventually killing them........................................ Then when a new colony re-appears just repeat the process. Ants are like unwanted relatives ~ they keep showing up and the difference is you can kill the ants.

We recently had similar issue - tiny -super tiny- black ants on countertops/sink. Just a few now&then.
Neighbor told us they were "Sweet Grease Ants". Publix - sells a bottle - Protexall Ant-Kill, like $4, 2 fl oz. small white plastic bottle with red cap. Squirt a couple drops of the blue liquid where they come - they will slurp it up and take it back to colony where they...you know. We had tried those plastic traplike things but did not work at all.

We don't have them in the D/W - but they probably come from under cabinets etc. I'd say it's safe to put some drops in the D/W too - when it runs, it should take away all the ant-kill.

Simple, easy, cheap - hopeful-solution to your problem. The bottle should last OUR lifetime.

These almost invisible critters can enter the house from just about anywhere because they are about the size and color of a speck of black pepper. We use Massey and they have been very effective in ridding us of these pests quickly. We had found them in our kitchen and our bathroom a year or so apart about 4 years ago.

We call them ghost ants. They can come through a window screen. We get them a couple times a year and use terro to get rid of them. Our pest guy told us to follow them to the nest and kill the nest, yeah right. They take the terro back to the nest and are all gone in about a week.

We use Massey, and they have been out three times and we still have the ants.

We bought in 2011, and this is the first time we've had ants, but they're coming in at several locations. The Massey guy comes in and says "Well, I can't see any inside" (because I sprayed them myself), "so I'm not putting anything inside. I'll go outside and spray." Then he does, and three days later they're back again. I'm running out of patience.

DeanFL, is the Publix stuff safe to use around pets? And Opus, what is terro?

Go to Home Depot and buy a jug of"Ortho Home Defense" for about $10. Spray it around the entire foundation of your home. We've been using this for several years. Cheaper than hiring someone else to do it. You can also search the perimeter of your home for the ant hill they are coming out of and spray that hill. Be careful; they bite.

We bought some roses from SAMs and didn't notice ghost ants were all over them until it was too late. We had to call pest control.

I had ants in my dishwasher in New York for years. I couldn't understand how they could survive the daily blasts of scalding water and detergent but it never dislodged them. They were certainly clean ants

Thank you. There are five Terro ant products listed. Do you have a favorite?

We've had the problem with these ghost ants and had Massey take care of them.

Two weeks ago we had ghost/sugar ants on the kitchen counter.
We immediately called our pest company "Falcon Lawn and Pest".
The Pest Control technician arrived within hours.
Goodbye ants!
