We are on I-75 north, north of Micanopy, and there is a fleet of Pike Electric trucks going north. I was wondering if they were going back home? Going north to Georgia? Tennessee? To help them?
We are seeing some trees down so far but not bad. We will be going north to Nashville, and I expect we will see more wind damage as we go. I also think we will see some flooding, but probably not on the interstate.

More likely they are going to assist with getting the power back on in the hurricane area.

Just north of Lake City now, and saw electric trucks with Indiana and Michigan plates.

The Georgia welcome center has quite a few shingles gone. Powered by generators. Trees are either leaning hard north, snapped in half or uprooted. Many signs are twisted and vinyl billboards are gone/torn. Some power in Valdosta is out.

We don’t see any damage in Chattanooga, although some low lying areas are flooded. We are seeing remnants of rain from Helene.

Our oldest in Greenville SC no cell towers, or power. Estimated 5-10 days. Roads are blocked by downed trees, and power lines. No hotels available, due to lack of power. Duke trucks are rolling in, as well as at least 20 airboats. In process of driving to TV, but slow going because only one road out of the mountains is cleared to drive without giant trees blocking.
Youngest is in Louisville, 9” of rain, but has power.

Friday morning on the Turnpike, we saw 8 ambulances and 14 other service type of vehicles headed north, most likely to assist where needed. Good to know we can help out wherever needed.

If and that a big if there is a road that is safe to travel, the Governors are asking to shelter in place. Some have family in safe zones, but can’t get out. We have noticed more than usual school age kids with parents driving around in the past few days

Indianapolis has areas still without power due to Helene’s winds. Such a powerful storm!
Just thought I’d provide some info as we traveled north. For those offering sarcasm, it is duly noted.

That should be in the scope and responsibility of their elected officials. OP mentioned Pike...which, if true, is a noble gesture since I believe they are a private entity. The reality with these storms aftermaths....it is somewhat synonymous with an ER, priority over expediency and convenience....as it should be. Loss of life, the vulnerable, the injured and displaced should always take precedence. IMO

FYI, Duke Energy has stationed 16,000 resources for Milton and they say they have some of those resources stationed at The Villages (listed as one of several locations to stage their trucks, people, equipment, etc).
