Default The Lone Ranger Creed

With all the bad things happening in the world today, maybe it's time to remind ourselves how good citizens behave.

I ran across this a couple of days ago when my son and I were comparing popular entertainment from my generation to his:

The Lone Ranger Creed

by FRAN STRIKER (creator of "The Lone Ranger") for WXYZ radio in Detroit.

"I believe that to have a friend, a man must be one.

That all men are created equal and that everyone has within himself the power to make this a better world.

That God put the firewood there but that every man must gather and light it himself.

In being prepared physically, mentally, and morally to fight when necessary for that which is right.

That a man should make the most of what equipment he has.

That 'This government, of the people, by the people and for the people' shall live always.

That men should live by the rule of what is best for the greatest number.

That sooner or later...somewhere...somehow...we must settle with the world and make payment for what we have taken.

That all things change but truth, and that truth alone, lives on forever.

In my Creator, my country, my fellow man."

I kinda like Gene Autry.

Happy Trails to you.

If you read the link, scroll clear to the bottom and the Creed appears to be written by Fran Styker in 2008.

The Lone Ranger was way before that.

Just sayin'...............

I think that's just the date of the NPR article. Fran Striker has been dead since the early 60's.

I like Gene Autry too.

I reread the creed and I had jumped to conclusions which after rereading it I have amended. Sorry Jim.

It is a good piece.

I was being snarky.

I will try to do better.

You are a good person who posts good stuff.

Embarassed Gracie.

Unfortunately a good percentage of our population probably don't even know who the Lone Ranger is, or if they do would probably view his philosophy as being naive

Personally I am so saddened concerning the bad and destructive behavior of so many groups in our society that I have retreated to the seclusion of my man cave and there watch as many old westerns that I can and or other 30's 40's 50's adventure movies were heroes exhbited honor chivlary moral courage, etc. Even the bad guys admitted in the end that they deserved hat they got owning up to their responsibility for their bad acts.

One could argue who or why we graduated to a sliding scale when it came to honesty, morals and ethical behavior but to what avil. Anyway you look at it , it is apparent it continues on a rapidly downhill path obfuscating the difference between good and evil.
