My husband's parents celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary November 21. His dad died November 23 at the age of 94. His mother died early this morning, 36 hours after her husband, at the age of 90. We're traveling to Kansas Thursday for their double funeral on Saturday.
Just wondering, has anyone else experienced anything like this? |

I had a friend who had parents of similar age and length of marriage. The mother died and the father immediately went to bed. He stopped eating and talking. Never got out of bed and died 2 weeks after his wife. The family had 2 funerals in 2 weeks. My friend helf up for the first, but by the time her dad died she wasn't faring so well. Too many years together to live without the other.

My inlaws are staying with us right now...Dad had a TIA November 4th and then developed pneumonia. He is 93, she is 95. He said that he plans to stay around until she's gone then he wants to go the next day. They have been married almost 73 years. If all goes well they are moving to TV with us as soon as our house sells...keep your fingers crossed and keep us in your prayers.

So sorry for your loss! Safe travels too by the way!
An uncle and aunt of a family member were in a car accident. Think they both lived through that but one of them died in the hospital and it was a short while (can't remember now how long...a matter of days) that the other passed away as well. There was a double funeral which was so "happy-sad" as the family mourned their loss. BUT their lives were honored in such a beautiful way. They'd had a wonderful relationship with one another so it seemed that it was a good thing they'd gone almost together. |

A friend of mine's mother passed away and his uncle died a few days after.
He had to attend both funerals simultaneously. I have heard of several family's parents passing away within days of each other as the loss of aloved one was too much to bear. Sad but true. My deepest condolences on your loss.

Sorry for your loss. I had a simular experience with my Mom and Dad. She died Sept 11 2011 and he died Oct 25th 2011. after 68 years of marriage. I almost think it's better if they had died a day or two apart that way you can start healing and not experience the process all over a month or two later

Sorry for your loss. In answer to your question, yes. My mom's aunt and uncle died 2 days apart...neither had known the other was in the hospital.
