Default Have not heard anything about the horse park proposal in DeBary

Been wondering if the other horse park proposal is a go but could not find any recent news about it. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...,3010268.story

Looks like it will be a difficult project to get in Volusia County like it was here in Sumter County.

Four candidates will be fighting for seats on the DeBary City Council in November.

Mayor George Coleman, a retired postmaster, is up against Bob Garcia, a retired Army man who ran for mayor of Deltona in 1995.

Seeking to replace outgoing Vice Mayor Chris Carson are Van Conoley, a retired math teacher, and Mark Allen Meister, a former supervisor at an ambulance company.

One hot issue will be a proposed quarter-horse racetrack along Dirksen Drive and U.S. Highway 17-92. A developer has yet to submit formal plans to the city, but he has asked the state for a permit to run the track and a poker room.

So far, none of the candidates have expressed support. Meister has made strong statements against the proposal. Garcia has said that it might boost the economy but suggested that residents be mailed ballots so they could vote, though he did not propose a formal referendum.

Default Article about the horse park in DeBary.

This covers some of the PR by Michael Goldstein. This was the gentleman who moderated a board on TOTV about the Oxford Horse Park proposal back in the Summer of 2008.

That DeBary Horse Park is going to be a real battle for Michael Goldstein to get approved.

Have to see how the November elections change the political landscape though as mentioned in Muncle's post about DeBary politics.
