I think our feet change with time and age (as do the manufacturers). Example for me is I wear a certain brand and ordered a pair like my previous ones but they felt more narrow. I contacted the company and they told me they'd changed manufacturers. Many shoes are made in China and the result is---well you know the answer to that.

Shoes are all individual--what feels wonderful for your friend will be terrible for you. So go to a store and try on a bunch and whatever feels good go with that. Ask them "IF" you don't wear them outside can you return them if something changes. Then wear the shoes "in the house" and see how they work.

We walk 5 to 10 miles 5 days a week. Brooks is our choice, have tried aysis, and many others, always back to brooks. No knee, hip or back pain. Not only walking but that interval run.

For women (sorry guys) -- if the price is no object, Famolare shoes have made a comeback.
They are nothing short of terrific!

I had a pair of wave closed shoes in high school. They are AMAZING, comfy as all get out. They were a low platform (I think just 2 platform with a total 3-inch heel), not sandals, just a normal lace shoe but on a wavy gum riser. Those and Earth Shoes were all the rage. I had a pair of ES knockoffs too.

Thanks for reminding me of the name Cowgirl! I was talking about those when this thread first appeared, to my sister and we were trying to remember the name to see if they were still around.

If you're looking for Famolare, I'll save you some time. Practically every site that is now selling them has them priced at about $150.00 a pair, give or take, depending on the style. Zulily has them for about half of that price.

Happy shopping!
