Default C 466 at US 301 Intersection Improvements Alternatives Study

Public Workshop Scheduled to Discuss C 466 at US 301 Intersection Improvements Alternatives Study

Sumter County is conducting a study to evaluate alternatives for intersection improvements at C 466 and US 301. The purpose of this study is to improve traffic operations and meet the County’s level of service (LOS) standards through roadway widening and the addition of travel and turn lanes.

Preliminary alternatives have been developed and evaluated based on construction and right-of-way costs. Cost estimates have been prepared for all proposed improvements. Public Input Requested Sumter County invites the community to attend an upcoming public workshop to provide input on the proposed project and alternatives.

The informal open house will be held: Date: Wednesday, July 30, 2025 Time: 5:00–6:00 PM Location: Belvedere Library – Conference Room 120 325 Belvedere Blvd., The Villages, FL 32162 Attendees will have the opportunity to view maps, drawings, and project handouts. Project representatives will be available to discuss the study and answer any questions from the public.

Public feedback is an important part of the planning process, and Sumter County encourages residents and stakeholders to participate. For more information, please contact Marty Morlan, Consultant Project Manager at 813- 738-8193 or via email Marty.morlan@ice-eng.com.

Maybe I don't pass through here often enough, but I've done so about 4 times in the past two weeks, and I didn't notice any congestion. Admittedly, it's not snowbird season.

Way too much traffic for a roundabout. One of the lights going East will have you sometimes sitting there for eight minutes. Did that in a heavy rain after getting gas at Wawa. A storm was on its way .

And then there are the trains which can have you stuck there for quite some time.

I would guess the study is in preparation for the onslaught of traffic to the area due to the Costco store that is being built down the road on 466. I doubt that will be the only intersection that may prove to be insufficient.

Also long range road planning has 466 connecting to 75.

LOL like didn’t see that coming with Costco. About year or two too late as usual. 301 through summerfield also a disaster. Traffic has really got out of control with all development up and down 301 in last 8 years major cut through. There redo at CR42 and 301 goat rope with 7-11, turn lanes not long enough.

Opinion on Costco and 301

I remember in Wisconsin; there was a new Manard's store being constructed on a busy corner.
That intersection needed stop and go lights with widen street, Manard's had to pay for it all.

The price of doing business.

Good to hear a Consultant was hired not named Kimley-Horn. Wondering if Kimley-Horn had a side gig going auditing The Villages Health coding practices?

Nice to see the Public Workshop.

Wish they would do the same for 44/Morse intersection and the 470 expansion.

We heard that theory in 2005, when we moved here.

Budgetary restrictions always dominate. However it is still an improvement.

Budgetary restrictions and physical limitations. It is one thing to widen a road but widening an underpass is a large, expensive, time-consuming project.

"Temporary" improvement. A complete redesign is part of the 301 widening and Turnpike expansion.

At least 5yrs away.

Looks like they're considering a diverging diamond?
