Forever reason, when she redid the Jimmy Webb song MacArthur Park I started listening to her. I always thought the original version by Richard Harris was beautiful. I thought by her doing that song other people would be interested in more complex music. As I listened to her stuff, most of it went by the wayside as more disco. Since were now 40 years removed, almost any type music from the 70's and 80's I take a liking to. The more I hear her stuff, the more I like it. I even went to Savannah Center last to see the Village People, it was a good time for all.
I can remember back in the late 70's when I lived in Pensacola dropping my wife off at Big Daddy's Triple Decker Lounge so she could hear disco and I would go to Machine Kelly's overlooking the bay and hear rock. I remember one band because their name was so unusual, it was Tequila Mockingbird, and they would hold up signs that said "Disco Sucks" and the place would go wild. Richard Harris Live MacArthur, I always thought the lyrics were so stupid, that it was good. Richard Harris, Mac Arthur - YouTube Donna Summer doing a live version of MacArthur Park.
