Default R I P Harold Reid, bass singer of the Statler Brothers

He had a fantastic deep bass voice. In the early 1960s I saw him perform in person with Johnny Cash outdoors on a raised platform on the UNM tennis courts during our spring fiesta. While I was standing adjacent the side of the platform Johnny started to tip over the side. I put my arm out to stop him from falling and got a deep voiced "Thanks" from him. A wonderful memory!

Many years ago I had the pleasure of meeting him near the Inner Harbor (Baltimore). As a big fan, you can only imagine how excited I was. He was gracious, friendly, and personable when I shook hands with him. I will never forget that moment.

I saw him in Maryland when the Statler Brothers performed at a county fair many years ago. He had a wonderful voice. He will be missed.
