But if you try to love your neighbor as yourself and keep the commandments then you are doing well.

My faith does not teach the literal interpretation of the Bible. The old testament was before Christ was born and the new testament was after Christ lived. Some of the Bible was meant to be history and some was meant to be moral teachings. . Many were traditions and laws that were used that have no bearing on life today. Such as some what is clean and unclean.

Revelation is from the old testament. You would have to have the wisdom of Solomon to really make sense of it. And unless you are fluent in the old languages, there is no way to argue what was originally written and what it meant.

Perhaps you are right. I think you believe with your whole heart you are right. I respect your beliefs and wish you well.I know God loves you.

Like your wisdom Graciegirl. I majored in Religious Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno while getting two BAs in Philosophy and History.

Just think what The Bible would look like if it were written in 2014 by the powers that be? We would have Grimm fairy tales thrown in with Rap music, arguments about Global Warming, various pictures of the kardashians, crap from ISIS relating to the Revelations, and probably some songs by Taylor Swift. The powerful usually write the religious tracts. Henry VIII sure was busy when he was re-writing the religious tracts for the Anglican Church, for instance. But then came Bloody Mary to try to reset everything Henry VIII tried to do.

Few people on their deathbeds would ask to hear the wisdom in Aesop's Fables that is instructive for this life, which for them, is ending.

But many do ask to hear from a minister or priest on how to be in peace for the eternity they clearly sense is coming. Ask ER drs., nurses and ministers what atheists are screaming as they exit this life in abject terror. It is anything but peaceful, and it's agony to witness it.

Jesus said:

24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

You are saying the Bible is false? Where is your proof. I am amazed at the non christians who have come into this thread!

Archeology has proven most everything in the Bible! How about the dead sea scrolls that have new testament scripture?

There is only one that was translated by the will of GOD and it is the King James Bible the 1st translation. America was founded on this book!

I just looked at your OP, and it's true that you did ask your question of Christians.
I admire your dedication to your religious beliefs.
However please don't be upset that the the nature of open exchange on this Forum means that you may also hear from non Christians, as well as from people who have religious opinions which are quite different from your own.

Sophie, If you study your Bible history, you will realize that the King James Bible was a translation taken from other Bibles of the time. Primarily the Bishop's Bible. Granted that King James was the first English language translation used by the masses. However, I would much rather put my faith in a Bible like my own. The NASB which was a direct literal translation from the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. At least i know that no personal opinions from the middle ages are influencing the translation.

Pastor Anderson from Tempe, AZ has been preaching on this subject for awhile. He has a new video coming out in December on New World Order versions of the Bible. Here's the trailer:

I didn't read that Taltarzac thought the Bible was false.

Reread what he said.

Remember too Sophie, that Christianity is 2000 years old, much older than our country.

Do you know why it is called the King James version? In 1611 King James ordered the current Bible rewritten for the people of the time and the Church of England. (The Anglican Church)

I don't like for people to scoff at another's faith either Sophie. There will always be agnostics and atheists. Take comfort in your faith and live your life so that people see a good thing to be drawn to.

Well said Bare.
Not only do Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics, and Theists disagree, but virtually every subgroup of all religions disagree with each other on key points, and interpret their ancient writings in vastly contradictory ways. The Bible was written by scholars who probably made up many stories (Noah, Jonah) as cautionary tales to keep their flock in line and scare them from straying from religious dogma. I believe in God and attend church, but don't put too much faith in the people who manage religious organizations, as they have proven time and again not to be Godly people. I believe we would all be better off just living by the Golden Rule.

graciegirl 11-20-2014 04:15 PM

I sort of loosely interpret the golden rule as

if you don't want other to put down what you believe in, don't put down what they believe in.

Unless what they believe in is planning to kill anyone who they consider an infidel.

I see the new translations are different in some places. I think one of the biggest which could be a huge deception is about the mark of the beast.

King James version of Revelations 13:16 16And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (in as in a chip)

I believe the King James Bible is the correct one as I worked with a person who helped bring about barcodeing and every bar code has 666 in it.

The newer translations say the mark will be planted on the right hand or on the forehead. (I think of something like a tattoo)

Who was the author, King James? Where was he king? Was he a good king?

I'm with you. And frankly, to simplify, if you took all religion away, if we could just live by the Golden Rule, things would go pretty darn well.

I think you put a lot on the word probably! Your life is only a blink away and you will put your beliefs using the word probably? (The Bible was written by scholars who probably made up many stories) What is wrong with reading the book of John for starters and then praising our lord Jesus Christ! People Jesus Christ is real! You are more than flesh and bones! The stones cry out showing everything is true!
