That's quite a background for your wife. My mother's mother side is kind of like that with Stimson, Trueblood and Hopkins family trees going quite far back. My double cousin James did some intensive research when he managed a hotel or something like that near Plymouth MA but could not find the connection to the signer of the Declaration of Independence that supposedly was in our family tree.

I have no problem with free speech, and he certainly had the right to do it, but along with that comes consequences, hopefully not the violent type. There is a big difference in free speech between yelling "fire" in the middle of a desert as opposed to a crowded theater.

My biggest issue is that the gesture did what? helped the dialog on this subject? you can see here and elsewhere it was more polarizing than anything. Something meaningful would be to go into communities and speak to the youth. But that probably isn't as much fun as hosting a golf tournament for Camp Taylor. Big deal you sat down as your big gesture. What does that solve? Offer some solutions. You have a platform to do that--to be a role model. And if people don't like the way police handle things, join the police departments....I hear Dallas and Baton Rouge have openings.

Your point on Free Speech is understood and I agree. When I Googled this guy I found a man named Glen Coffee who left the 49er's and went into the Army for many different reasons. This is the kind of person we should concentrate on not some fool. Colin was fascinating to watch during a few games a talented guy for sure. But like so many players before him he was just a flash in the pan. His career is circling the drain now.
