Just in case you missed it, The Villages Daily Sun put up a special section of their online edition showing not only all the winners of their 2008 Photo Contest, but every single entry! The photographs are fantastic, even those that didn't win an award. Take some time to look at what your fellow residents have created. Here's the link...

As an aside, we're all involved in one activity or club or another here in The Villages. I've enjoyed participation in The Villages Photography Club since I've lived here. This year's Daily Sun Photo Contest highlights both the talent as well as what can be learned by participating in clubs. In the "blind" judging of the almost 1,300 pictures submitted by almost 300 photographers, Villages Photography Club members won the following awards...

• Best of Show of all the pictures submitted
  
• First place awards in six of the seven categories
  
• Second place awards in six of the seven categories
  
• Third place in one category
  
• Twenty of the thirty-eight Honorable mentions published in the paper

I guess what it proves is that there's a whole ot of talent that resides here in The Villages. And if you participate in the club or activity of your choice, chances are you're going to get a lot better at whatever activity you choose, if for no other reason than osmosis from fellow Villagers.

Congrats to the member-winners of The Villages Photography Club!

Coincidentally, the Photography Club is having their annual Photo Expo next Wednesday (March 7) at La Hacienda Rec Center. The winners and other members will be there from 10 AM until 3 PM displaying their pictures and answering any questions that visitors might have about how they were taken or about photography in general. If you have time, it would be worth a visit.

If I were as cynical as some are about the Villages Sun newspaper, I'd say some of those flowers were duplicated in Photoshop, but I'm not. ;D

Seriously, I can't wait to become a resident so I can learn lots from your guys.

I did see these pictures in the daily sun and was blown away by the talent of some of these people............I will be there wednesday , I wouldn't miss it ... thanks for the info..
