I cannot understand all the back and forth on a Del Webb community and here. It sounds as though the OP is a salesperson for Del Webb but is on TOTV. Strange!

If she likes Del Webb Ponte Verde, move there. There are lots of nice retirement communities from North Carolina to Florida.

Most of us on TOTV have made our choice.

BuggyOne, it's simple....it's posted in the "Non-Villages" Forum. TOTV has people of all ages, in all phases of their life. As I said in my first post, I have no link at all to DWPV. I know I have appreciated the info I have learned on TOTV. It is not a negative against TV to present info that may appeal to non-TV residents.

Life is a journey. Many of us on TOTV are sharing our experiences along the way.

I feel the same way and that is why I posted our experience.
It's "up and coming" but it's going to take many years to get there.

I would check before I bought anywhere near a beach. I can get hurricane insurance 3 minutes from the beach but even with all the discounts it's costs me $1700 for a 1451 sq. ft. house. People right on the water pay a lot. Now a condo may be different. I can only get Citizen's insurance and they are raising the rates again next year. One of the things I look forward to by moving to TV this week is how much less I'll be paying for insurance.

Apparently I am not the only poster who's puzzled not by someone interested in looking at MANY retirement communities but rather the huge amount of time and energy put into accumulating 1,100 posts in the forum of only one of these "many" when one expresses an interest in ONE other community that appears so powerful that "It sounds as though the OP is a salesperson for Del Webb but is on TOTV. Strange!"

And so I expressed my "curiosity" (nothing more) and (politely) "asked" (did not demand and believe I was not rude...) if she could explain this. Though her response did not address my specific question, she did graciously respond, which I appreciated. I quote myself to show exactly what I was asking:

I agree; I'd been interested in other retirement options for decades, since the time my parents retired to south Florida in the early '70s, which prompted me to begin looking ahead. it's the DEGREE of involvement in but one community (1,100 posts) that I still don't get while simultaneously committing oneself to another community to such a degree that I thought she already lived there (which the OP later clarified) and another poster thought that she must be a salesperson for that other community!

By this point it's apparent that I will not get an answer to my specific question, so I accepted it while still puzzled (and realizing later that I am not the only puzzled poster). So I'm done; it started with a silly curiosity question on my part which seemed to take on a life of its own. Really, it's so trivial; I'm dropping out of this thread and am instead leaving it to the "Debbie Downers" and "Harry Haters." Thank you.

All of the above statements I was taught growing up in the middle of the country. I am NOT one tad nicer than anyone else and have been frequently challenged on this forum for being saccharine by folks that didn't grow up in Ohio.

I think that a lot of our problems with getting on each others nerves on this forum is just the way that we have learned to communicate in the areas we have lived all of our lives.

Some may seem cloying and patronizing to others and and some may be seen as overbearing and harsh to people not used to a certain type of communication.

Underneath, I think we are all the same with different communication styles.

Gracie I love those sayings, obviously I've forgotton some of them so thank you for the reminder. You remain the consummate teacher.

Regarding Ponte Verde, we moved inland after living directly on the Ocean and experiencing 3 violent hurricanes and mass destruction. Also, watching the eroding beaches was heartbreaking. Ponte Verde is a little to close to the action for me.
