Default Any experience with Direct Buy?

Does anyone have any experience with Direct Buy? I have seen their ads on tv and called to get a free visitors pass, but you have to sign up for a time slot for your visit. (which means to me that you are going to have a sales person trying to pressure you into joining their club.) I just want to know if it is worth my time for this visit. We will be buying new furniture and remodelling our home when we move, and I just wanted to see what they were about while I am investigating all the possibilities before I make any buying decisions. Any information would be appreciated.

I don't have any personal experience, but have read on bulletin boards that it can cost up to $5,000 to join and then so much a year. That seems steep to me. I also have a feeling that you give you a hard sell.

I had done a google search about them and found there were a LOT of unhappy people that signed up with them. That kept me away.

OK, sounds like I was right to be cautious. Thanks

There was another thread in the last three months that pretty much said the same thing, Stay away from them...

There was a special on TV, not too long ago, on one of the nightly news programs. The report was not too positive about that organization. According to this report, they are not any less expensive than anywhere else, and in some cases even much more expensive. Apparently the courts can't do much to stop them. I would be extremely careful with them.

NO! NO! NO!
I was curious as I'd seen so many TV ads, that I called them. First of all, it p... me off that they told me I had to bring my husband - Haven't had one of those for over 30 years. Anyway, long story short, I made an appointment and went with two friends. Secondly, they don't have a "showroom" - just a bunch of catalogues and posters in building space that they rent temporarily. Then you are ushered into this room with a big screen. I knew then that we were in trouble. A very, very smooth person in a very, very smooth suit gives a very smooth 45 minute presentation. No questions allowed until the end of this presentation. OK, question numero uno - how much to join? Would you believe a whopping $5000......and........don't even think that it's a lifetime membership. Oh no. If I remember correctly, just a couple of years. We left.
Not even a cup of coffee were we offered. I've read enough since to know that you stay away!!!
