Default Disney - Not

No more of my $$$ is going to Disney. Just recently heard that to stay at a Disney resort they are now charging to park overnight. I believe I read that they charge around $13.00 per night for the low end hotels and up to $31.00 per night at the higher level hotels. We usually stayed at Port Orleans Riverside which is considered at mid level. We loved the location and the fact that there was boat transportation to other areas in addition to the bus depot. The pool play area was really nice for our grandkids. Since I was born, raised & lived most of my life in Florida...thus have been going there for many years with my own children & grandkids. But no more of my money is being spent there. The last straw was in Publix today when I was looking for a new recycle bag at checkout. I picked up one of the Disney character bags and saw that it was $1.99, well I couldn’t believe it. So I then picked up another design...pretty colorful eggs. The cashier said it was $1.00, which was what I expected. So I joked wth the cashier that I surely wasn’t going to pay extra to advertise Disney! What is wrong with this picture?!? They should be paying customers for carrying around their advertising. Go ahead bash me if you will, but that is just plain ridiculous!

So I take it you never stay overnight at Universal? They've been charging to park at their hotels for years. And regarding charging for bags, I guess you don't wear any apparel with a brand or logo on it?

As long as they continue to have occupancy rates at greater than 90% they feel they can do pretty much whatever they want.

They've raised park ticket prices so high in an effort to thin out the over crowding and even that didn't work.

Disney Value is $13 per night, moderate $19 per night, deluxe $24 per night. Disney Springs 3 hour parking free with validation of a $20 purchase.

Universal parking to go for dinner was $24.00 for 3 hours

Disney will charge whatever the market will bear. But isn’t that just about what everybody does?

The Swan and Dolphin have been charging for parking for years. Parking fees would not stop me for staying on site. The on site transportation is worth the parking charges (for me).

And if happen to belong to DVC I believe the parking fee is waived..

Occasionally we drive to one of the hotels just to eat lunch or dinner. Interesting to see if we will be charged for parking while eating in one of their restaurants.

I’m DVC and there is no parking fee for DVC stays. There is no parking fee for Disney Springs last I checked. If you are heading to a resort for shopping or dining, no parking fee, but some resorts might just limit time you can park for various reasons....construction, etc. Many hotels do charge an overnight parking fee...and have been doing so for some time.

Why is everyone jumping on the OP. They were only stating the fact that they will not be going back to Disney. We are annual pass holders, and we will not be renewing for the same reason. These parks are nickel and diming us to death, and I for one have better things to do with my money. Apparently that’s what Disney and Universal are aiming at.

We do the same BUT we assume parking will remain free for passholders.

Some people just like to jump all over others when they post. I expected to be criticized for not liking Disney any more. It’s like not liking mom & apple pie. Lol! I’ve been going to Disney for probably 45 years, and over it now. Whew!

Parking for visiting the parks is free for annual pass holders. Parking for dining and shopping at the resorts is free for all. Overnight parking for people staying at the resorts has a fee.
