Default GE major Appliances business SOLD to "Electrolux"!!!!!

Another American icon sold to a non USA company.
I guess our assets look better to outsiders than they do to the locals!!!

It is a shame that GE continues to deteriorate from being one of the foremost manufacturers in the world to nothing more than a service company.

Immelt has allowed the Major Appliance Business to become non competetive. Too many high ranking managers that have and had no clue how to make the best appliances (like they used to do) for the best cost. Their costs to produce have steadily risen year after year. Where was the size 12 in somebosy's back side????
In my day at GE it was Jack Welch. You were either number one or two in the business you were in or you did not get to keep your job.

I am glad I came through GE, over 20 years, when it was a manufacturing force to reckon with world wide. I particularly enjoyed it as I was a manufacturing guy that made damn sure the business I was responsible for was the most effective/efficient manufacturing operation in the company.

Just another indicator of how our permissive, don't upset the apple cart society, don't upset anybody, don't fire the incompetents, special interests before company, linguine spined environment takes it's toll!!!!

Very SAD!

Very good points on why many American companies are falling behind when bean counters run a company such as GE as opposed to responding to the customer needs and wants. You build good products people want, you will be successful. If you put in a cheap ignition switch to save a buck, one pays the price.

Electrolux was a top notch company at one time. I have not kept up with their products since they were sold.

However, I have with GE and their appliance products have been crap for a very long time with time with the exception of their Profile line..and even then I had trouble with their ice makers, handles vegetable bins cheap cheap cheap.
Perhaps Eletrolux can produce a better product

thing to watch for on products is that often a small company buys a good name, people think products are from old good quality company, like Bell and Howell and Poloroid. Is Electrolux same company or just a name?
