I know his point was probably along the same likes as mine judging from his other posts.

I do think that something needs to be done in the US about whatever kind of weapons a reasonable person would describe as military style.

Smart girl...I have a friend whose nephew was killed by stabbing in Scotland last year. Scotland has launched an aggresive Anti Knife campaign. It seems we humans can find a way to do harm no matter the weapon and that's the shame.

FYI

When I was 15 I was mugged and stabbed in the abdomen, I was hours from death. Only good fortune and a good surgeon saved my life.
So until you have walked in my shoes and I hope you never do, please do not comment on my motives.

You have 30 long knives? Why so many? How long are you talking? I have one.

I never heard of anything more ridiculous in my life! What next, wooden spoons? God knows splinters are a great danger!

I guess anything seems ridiculous until you become the victim.

Just where does it all stop, is my question. I am certainly not downplaying anyone's suffering as a victim of crime. It has happened to me as well. What I am certain of is the there is a "person" doing the crime, not an inanimate object. The object itself does not cause the crime - the assailant does.

I did not know that. But you seem very much against any kind of gun ban in the US. Why would you be for a long kitchen knife ban in the UK? Does not make much sense.

Many sets of kitchen knives have various long knifes. http://www.everythingkitchens.com/cutlery.html#large

I would expect that some UK households also have swords and the like because of the interest in English history in the UK.
