Default First Day Cover- (Stamps) Collection...?

Hello all.
As some here know, we are in the process of getting rid of almost everything up here as we have our NY home on the market. As soon as our home sells, we will move to our Florida home full time.

One thing I have struggled with is what to do with my collection of U.S. First Day covers. I have a few thousand of them. I'm thinking that it may be time to part with them. My question is.....does anyone here on TOTV know of a trustworthy person who deals with collections, etc....?

I'm wondering if it may be easier to find someone down there, then for me to find someone up here. I know the value of stamp collections has gone down a lot.....I'm not expecting much, but would like to have them go to someone who appreciates them.

So....my question is, is there a person down there, or perhaps a stamp club who can advise me?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Respectfully, Frank

Interested in the same thing. I have a large collection of very old stamps and years worth of first day covers that my mother collected. Looking for a way to sell at a fair price.

Default I've got bad news.

I too am a philatelist. But FDC's are almost worthless, unless you have something unusual or very old. We do have a small stamp club in TV, the president is a great guy, and a dealer (stamps not drugs). Listing is under "postage stamp" in the weekly recreation news, not under stamp or philatelic. Bring your stuff to a meeting so we can all see what you have. Who knows, you might find a buyer, or just have an opportunity to meet some fellow semi-enthusiasts. You might get some action on ebay if you are willing to go that route. Advice given by a fellow WNYer

Cool

There is an active Stamp Club here in The Villages. The leader of the group is Marty Farber. He can be reached at MFarberStamps at aol.com.

Thank you all for the info. I was just looking through my collection the other day. Also found some full sheets, etc.
I'm still not sure what I will do with them. Just looking through them brings me much joy.....I do not care about the value really. It's just hard to bring everything you may want to down to your Florida home. They are smaller and I still look for the basement every time I'm there.

Since I am not a Village resident, I do not believe, and would not expect to be allowed to attend a stamp club meeting. Perhaps I may get to call him or e-mail him though.

Thank you! Frank
