Default Dog owners heed warning

Trifexis is a commonly prescribed flea&the artwork med. it is a combination drug.
BOTH OF MY DOGS ARE HAVING SEIZURES TONIGHT. They had their dose and blam, Tahlula, 9 pound maltipoo dropped howling, lost continence of her bladder and was post seizure lethargy, no color, sleepy and twitching.
Bandit, 11 pound schitzu bichon vomited, twitching, heart rate low and neuro signs; sensitive to light, sound. Shivers constantly.
Spoke with vet and if worsens, 24 hr emergency vet.
If ok, to vet in a.m. for labs, etc.
PLS BEWARE OF THIS MED.

Saying payers for your little ones. I'm also curious, did you buy your Trifexis from your vet or on-line?

Good Question for not all on-line "Pet-Meds" are regulated and controlled (ie brand or generic) even if a prescription is required.

Certainly hope your pets recover.....we have been using trifexis for about 3 years...NO problem.

I am sorry to hear if your dog's reaction. After the vet switched to Trifexis because the old brand was no longer available our 11 pound schitzu started throwing up after we gave it to her even after decreasing the dosage. This went on for months until the vet told us many dogs are reacting to it. Switching back when the old became available solved the problem. It breaks my heart when this happens. I hope yours are ok now.

Have used Trifexis for years, only purchased from my vet, and no side-effects whatsoever; however, a friend lost a furbaby to a very similar condition when she purchased online. They suggested it was because the pills got too hot in the mail..though it was a northern Florida winter at the time. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this and I do hope your babies are better soon.

Over dose for small dogs? How is it regulated by vet proscribed or one pill for all?

My brother & sister-in-law are having seizure issues with their bichon and naturally they are worried sick. I called & asked if their little Bentley happen to be on this particular flea & tick med..no he is not but was on Comfortis and a few weeks later started with the seizures. My SIL tells me that these 2 meds have many of the same ingredients. Interesting to say the least.
I'm sending you a pm

Unfortunately, vets continue to prescribe this horrible med and continue to insist it's all "media hype"!! I'm ready to quit a local vet due to their attitude and their "no paper policy" which actually also means no service!
