YONSEI University

My former roommate from Middlebrook Hall at the University of Minnesota now teaches at the Medical School in Seoul at Yonsei University.

This was during my 3rd year of Law School at the U of MN in 1988-1989.

He was doing various studies on stress on rats and their brain chemistry while I was going through a lot of stress doing the national WESTLAW cataloging project, being a Student Director for Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners, and trying to make sure I graduated from law school. I did in May 1989.

My Mom had the flu when I was still in her womb and it affected my speech and co-ordination. I have to work a lot harder much of the time and still can get befuddled when I talk. I only got through law school with the help of three U of MN Law School Student Body Presidents. One helped me get the job in the Law Library.

Anyway, I am trying to contact this Professor at Yonsei University. Tried his e-mail and no response just yet.

But, I could use some help with sending him a post card with Korean in it. I did learn some Korean being his roommate for nine months but I cannot write Korean.

He is in the same Marquis Who's Who in the World 12th Edition, 1995 that I am in and I did send him a congratulatory letter back around 1994 or 1995 . My friends made after I graduated from law school in my 224 613 Project helped me land those many honors.

Anyone now how to write Korean? Not sure what I want to put in an international post card to this Professor.

Except for making some very amusing remarks about rats while my hair was falling out from law school stress this MD, Ph.D., Ph.D. holder was a very good roommate.

I know there are some Korean pharmacists here in the Villages. Some of their English is sometimes quite rusty though and I would not know how to approach them with this.

I will not post my old roommate's name though because of privacy concerns.

I would have to copy and paste this in an e-mail, print it, and then put it on a postcard with postal tape.

Could work though.

I took some Japanese and Chinese while at the University of MN and it would have taken me years to just be able to read a kid's book.

Sometimes these translations are pretty bad especially for non-European languages. Anyone able to read Korean on TOTV??

The libraries here in the Villages' area have some online resources for learning Korean. Sumter has Mango and Lake County as the Pronunciator as does Marion County Library. Marion County Public Library System

I find with me it takes a few hours each day to really learn or just begin to learn a new language especially if I have no background in that language.

I just hope he does not Google me if he is trying to remember more about me as there is some really weird stuff out there from my many battles since January 1991 trying to improve practical materials for survivors/victims of crimes in my 224 613 Project and some of this involves the University of Minnesota.

They seem really supportive now at least some of the various programs.

I have even talked to a number of U of MN Graduates or attendees usually at Doggie Doo Run Run since 2011 or so.
