Default eBay - has anyone has issues?

Having a 'problem' with eBay. Two days ago, I was looking for an item on eBay and put it into my cart and continued searching for other options within eBay and elsewhere on the web. I found the exact item I wanted on another website and made my purchase. I have ordered quite a few items from eBay over the years with never a problem.

Today I received this message from eBay....

If payment isn't received by Oct-20-13, the seller may withdraw from the contract and you would no longer be entitled to receive this item. Additionally, an unpaid item may be recorded on your account, which could lead to your account being suspended.

Not sure what exactly I missed but I have 6 other items in my eBay cart and the one referred to in the above statement says COMMITED..... The rest are just hanging there/ tempting me .

I have never seen that before.... So is eBay 'threatening' me? ....to give me a bad reputation...suspend my account....for a $26/27 purchase?

I am heading back to eBay to see what I missed - I am wondering what else I may be "committed" to purchase!

I have been using EBAY for many years without any problems. I would suspect You made the mistake, not EBAY. Contact them and tell them that you erroneously hit the commit button. They have ways to help you out of the commitment. The threat you feel you were slapped with is an automated message given to all that commit and do not pay. Your mistake will be recognized as just that and can be reversed or ignored without suspension from EBAY.

Maybe when you put something in your cart on eBay you are committing to buy it - it might be different from other website shopping. Just a thought, I've never used the "cart" feature. I would contact the seller and explain, or pay for it and add a note to the seller with the explanation so they would understand why you hadn't paid. Also, contact eBay to find out the status of the other items in the cart.

To mfp509 - I have been using eBay for years. I always have 'stuff' in 'my cart' but never have seen in the top left corner 'committed' and no option to remove. Think I better start using the "wish list" feature, instead ! Never to old to learn!

You have = BUY IT NOW. Or. ADD TO WATCH LIST.

The add to watch list is like cart on other sites.

Pick one, you have bought it.

Pick the other, you are just looking.

That is right. There is no cart on ebay. When you commit to buy, you bought it.

The seller has the option of letting you out of the deal without penalty. As a seller I've had to do this once. If worse comes to worse I would spend the $27.00 to assure you don't get a black mark on your name.

I went to eBay college years ago, have been using it for about 20 years now, what i found is you need to be aware of the slight changes in the site, which can result in errors on your part. Buyers and sellers all are reasonable, no one wants a negative mark. communication with them is so important.

There is a cart on EBAY:

Adding items to your cart

To add an item from a fixed price listing to your cart, click the Add to cart button in the listing. You can see the items in your cart at any time by clicking the shopping cart icon at the top of most eBay pages

I never noticed that and I am on there a LOT. But usually for only one thing. Thank you for pointing that out.

Well ... Good things come when admitting 'I was wrong'. My seller understands and has left me off the hook.
