Use an ATM for local currency. They’re everywhere, hit one as soon as you enter a country.
You’ll get the best exchange rate. No need to get $ ahead of time, that’s been obsolete for decades.

Carry 2 travel cards with zero transaction fees.

Appreciate the above comments. That is my routine.

Just got back from Europe 9/1/2025.
We had obtained about 180 Euro in The Villages and didn't have to do a ATM withdrawal until well into the trip. Most purchases on credit card. Just kind of nice to have a few Euros on hand for personal need without making your first stop an ATM

Just offering the opportunity to buy excess currencies that people might have with no need in sight. Does not help or hurt me. May be of some convenience benefit to some folks.
