Default SS increase 2024

The Social Security COLA is projected to be at or near 3% in 2024. In 2023 the increase was 8.7%. Inflation has decreased by that much? Careful what you wish for!

Remember, the current rates of 3 to 4 % are ABOVE the 8-9% last year. Things I buy were up 20% and 10% or more this year.

And here I thought the SS Cola was based on 3rd Qtr CPI index!

Your correct. The 3rd quarter is still in progress. The 3% is just what analysts have predicted/projected and not in “concrete”.

You clearly see inflation every time you go to a grocery store.

Sincerely doubt Medicare part B charge will go up $120. And supplemental insurance is a private contract between you and the insurer, nothing to do with SS COLA

Every time the SS COLA increases it means the system will be insolvent sooner and the window of kicking the can down the road instead of making difficult choices closes faster.

No doubt in Publix. Now get 90% of our food from Aldi, Sams or BJ's. Had a hankering for pot roast last week and Publix was selling a chuck roast for $9+ a pound and Aldi was +/- $6 a pound.
