Default Eyeglasses

I am new to the Villages and need new glasses (I have a prescription from my ophthalmologist so I do not need an eye exam). Any recommendations? Have you gone to Sam's Club for glasses and how was the experience? I used Costco before moving to The Villages and they did a good job and were reasonably priced, but I do not want to drive to Clermont.

I have been using Hindsight in Pinellas Plaza for 10 years, reasonable prices, great service. I have a complicated prescription, but typically get the same day glasses, at worst the next day.

If you are looking to save money, Zenni.com is way cheaper than Sam's and Costco, and they have a much better selection. I can usually buy 4 or 5 pairs of prescription eyeglasses for the cost of one pair in any store.

Also, ophthalmologists usually do not examine eyes for an eyeglass prescription. It is done by a non-doctor technician in their office. I go to an ophthalmologist annually for a medical appointment, but I use an optometrist for an eyeglass prescription. The optometrist at Peepers in Colony Plaza, Dr. Collins, is very reasonable, and he will write a prescription for two years instead of the usual one year.

The Hindsight store in Pinellas Plaza is not closed. Also, the Peepers store in Colony Plaza is not closed.

We use Ocala Eye. There is an office in Laurel manor and one near Fenny. This is a full service eye care organization with many specialized ophthamologists as well as a full eyeglass department with good service and good prices.

After an unsatisfactory result, and even less satisfactory customer service (must have been a bad day for the doc?) at a store in Colony Plaza, we tried Zennie Optical online and are very satisfied. Sure, it takes a few days, but quality is great and service excellent. Good prices too.

I looked at Renni. They don't appear to have any metal frames available, only plastic

you don't say where you live in the villages. If near Pinellas Plaza, go to Hindsight.

Village Optical on 466 next to the Publix. Good selection of frames, great service, glasses produced in-house.

Costco if you are member or Walmart. Realize there are only a few manufacturers of the lenses and frames. They just put different names on them.
