Default How cute was that?

Mrs Fox and I remarked to each other last Fall that there were very few squirrels in our garden. We are surrounded by trees and they normally use our roof as an expressway, but neither sight nor sound of them.

Now, however, there are at least a dozen flying around. Judging from the cooing sounds coming from one of the trees, I suspect that a mother is encouraging her babies to explore. The latest one to leap from our roof to a nearby tree was the size of a small hamster.

We have several hawks in the area, and a bobcat, so numbers will no doubt decrease.

I love all the critters we have here in FLA. Squirrels are the cutest! They are pretty fast though and can out run a hawk if they are vigilant. Hawks have better luck picking up bunnies. Haven't seen too many rabbits here in TV though...

We have one living in the garden, who heads into the preserve most days, and we always worry that it won't come back.
