Default Food Recalls

This is new information for me so I hesitated posting. I try to avoid anything that is not uplifting.

I had the local tv news on in the back round and I thought I heard them say yesterday that Romain Lettuce was recalled and today eggs were recalled.

200 million eggs recalled over salmonella fears

A few days ago I bought eggs in Walmart and the only brand name I can see is Great Value. So I guess my eggs are fine.

I am asking you to check my USA Today source and see if it's a real concern.

And find your own source that you can share about the lettuce. I haven't been to the stores lately so my hunch is that if there was a problem, the grocery stores would be the first to know and pull the product.

Is my hunch true?

Your eggs could be at risk.. per the article look for this plant number..

They were sold under the brand names Country Daybreak; Crystal Farms; Coburn Farms; Sunshine Farms; Glenview; Great Value; as well as at Walmart and Food Lion stores

The recall involves eggs with the plant number P-105, with the Julian date range of 011 through 012 printed on either side of the carton or package.

I would say you're probably fine. It looks like your eggs came from plant #141..

Like I said I usually don't pay attention to food recalls and hope the store does or one of my kids or friends give me a heads up. The Catholic guilt in me said that if I know something, I should say something.

This forum is used, in part, to share information useful to others. A food recall is certainly important and I feel sure that not everyone has seen info about both recalls.

Thanks for sharing!

I bought eggs about a half and hour ago at Publix and asked the man restocking if he had personally seen the hens who laid them.

He said yes.

That's all I need.

I'm surprised no one answered my question. I write too much so maybe no one saw it. I'm guessing someone has expertise in grocery stores.

I get my news online. Does the daily newspaper print daily recalls?

Is it safe [not foolproof] to think that when a food recall occurs the first to hear about it is the grocery store's headquarters who immediately contacts the appropriate store/stores to pull the product.

I am not an expert but my understanding is that they notify all of the stores that purchased the product and that it would in fact be pulled from the shelves. The recall issued to the general public is for those who have already purchased the product.

The article doesn't agree with the video about the plant number and the date range.

Per the video... The recall involves eggs with the plant number P-1065, with the Julian date range of 011 through 0102 printed on either side of the carton or package.

The date range is from January 11 to April 12.
