Has anyone renewed his/her concealed carry permit here in the T V ? If so, where did he/she file the paperwork.? Is there a office or building that handles my concerns. ?

Thanks Steve, I"m aware I can send it out via mail to Jacksonville or have the hassle of applying on line. I was looking for someone who has renewed the permit in person to an office that is near the Villages.

As soon as this virus thing is over, you can renew in person at the tax collector's office in the Gov building on Powell Rd. They will even take your picture. I think you will need an appointment.

This is correct and you can make the appt. online and pick your day and time. I think the total cost was $57 as there is a $12.50 processing fee to the county. Make an appt. before you go, but things will have to open back up before that happens.

As already stated, what's called the Gold Dome building just south of 466A and Powell Rd is all Sumter County offices for concealed guns, driver's license, property taxes, and even a library.

When I got mine in 2012 they had not started that service. I printed the forms from online. Went to the Lady Lake Police station and got my fingerprints for $5, that's on 441 across the street from Miller's Ale House. Went to CVS and got a passport photo for $10. Put that together with the paperwork and I think a check for about $117 and mailed to the Department of Agriculture in Tallahassee and about 7 weeks later I got the permit. Otherwise you wait until the Gold Dome reopens.

It's good for 7 years, and when I renewed it last year. I just went to the Gold Dome Building without an appointment, same place at the end of the hall where you get your driver's license. Take a number and go back there, I think it was about $47 or something like that.

Kind of a related question. I have a license to carry in Massachusetts, which is one of the most difficult and unfriendly states to get a firearms license. Does anyone know if this is recognized by Florida, or will I have to start from scratch and re-apply as though I currently don’t have a license?

MA does not have reciprocity with FL. Click on your state to see who honors your permit.

Concealed Carry Permit Reciprocity Maps v5.1 (Updated Mar 23, 2020)

Get your FL permit. It is honored in a lot more places that your MA permit.

Thanks for the response, I am not surprised by the information you kindly provided. Reciprocal agreements require both states to honor the other states license. Unfortunately, my home state is very blue and anti firearms. They are so strict that they won’t honor many other states less restrictive requirements. They might honor a California license? But probably no other state. Add that to my list of reasons to become an official Florida resident.
