Is that supposed to be a political comment? Geez. Regardless, independence from foreign oil production has not changed. This is a distribution issue.

So going to Disney tomorrow, tank at 1/4. Sams, had 6-7 cars per pump. Every station had line’s of cars waiting to get in. I traveled down to WaWa’s, hoping less of a line. Each car only took less than 5-10 minutes. Lawn guys were the only ones getting more than 5 gallons of gas. Who sits in a line for 15 minutes for a few gallons of gas. It’s the TP mentality all over again.
I remember the Carter years in Maryland when I got up at 5 am to wait in line in my specified day for a hour to get 5 gallons of gas which I needed to get to work. This was in the middle of winter with no heat in the car (couldn't run the car while waiting because I needed every ounce of gas I could get).

In Florida we get 90% of our gas from the Gulf coast refineries by Tanker Trucks not the pipeline that was affected.

Electric cars? Guess what supplies the energy for electricity---it's not all electricity. The power needs something to run it and it isn't the windmills neither. Gas and coal are what run things ultimately. Don't fall for the rhetoric that we're running out of gas. I've heard actual experts say there is plenty and the U.S. has enough without relying on other countries.

Yeah, you could actually buy a trailer and mount a generator on it so you can charge your batteries while you are driving on long trips. The only reason you would need to stop is, wait for it, ........GAS to fuel the generator. Or, you could just drive 300 miles a day and search for a charging station to charge overnight and take about ten days to get to California.

It takes a small fraction of the time to top off my tank than it takes for people to fill their empty tanks.

I topped off my lawn mower gas can so that I can complete the whole lawn mowing job without stopping. I didn’t want to have to drive to the gas station, without completing the mowing.

Also, at the time, the rioting went on for over a week in the Twin Cities. The rioting was causing gasoline stations to close, because the gasoline stations were afraid of the arsonists that were part of the rioting.

There were also reports of cars with the license plates removed, that were filling up gasoline cans at gas stations in the Twin Cities area. Those were probably the arsonists that were part of the rioting.

Help ! Now, do we start our planned drive up to Chicago tomorrow (G'daughter graduation), put off starting out until Sunday or cancel altogether ??
Have not seen this family for two years and now this little crisis occurs, amazing timing !
If I was 20 instead of 80 this would, of course, be a no brainer.

It's not rhetoric. It's propaganda, conspiracy theories, and flat out lies. Certain extremists are using the Pipeline hack as justification to stir the pot - not just stir it, but add incendiaries and light the brew on fire and watch the explosion.

Not only are we not running out of gas, but we have lots that just can't be moved at the moment because of the pipeline hack. The gas is right there. And they're getting it out to the states it normally gets to, but the process is slower at the moment while they investigate the hack.

Meanwhile, Florida continues to be served exactly as they have been served all along. But idiots in Florida are believing the propaganda and conspiracy nonsense (go ahead, tell me that shocks and surprises you, I dare ya)...and hoarding all the gas they can get. Plastic gas containers are selling out at Lowes and Home Depot.

And just like the toilet paper stupidity, the hoarders will happily sell you their 5-gallon container of gas - for $200.

Is it fabricated?? Just another ploy to get us to change our minds to accept electric transportation? Something's fishy here....Anyway, I went to Wawa near Lowe's on 441 and topped off. Only needed half a tank, but there were lots of cars there but no long lines. I drove up to a pump with no waiting, but man, did it take a long time to put in 9 gallons of gas. I guess with all the pumps running, the flow volume drops considerably.

It reminds me of the "so called" gas shortage 50 years ago, when Ralph Nader said:

"The world is swimming in oil"

At Walmart neighborhood store cars were five deep getting mostly 4 and 5 gallons. Villagers among the first to panic. No surprise...
