Some of my neighbors refer to them as 'Geicos' (like the insurance company)
I love that. Love the anoles too. |

Ha! I always refer to anything not-a-gecko as a skink, but I see I'm wrong again in this life. :-)
Call me Not-A-Biologist. Rampant speciesism, I suppose, but I quite like geckos and could take or leave all other lizards. I used to live in the South Pacific and would feel comforted hearing the geckos bark at night, although the morning would sometimes reveal the remains of violent battles to the death. As a bonus, the roaches always lost. (I'm theatrically phobic about insects.) Last edited by queasy27; 05-18-2013 at 02:37 PM. |

We have quite a few around our house. Glad to have them since they eat bugs, spiders and such. they are pretty cool to watch sometimes too.

God rest his soul...Uncle Muncle had one of the funniest lines I ever read on TOTV....in a discussion about the abundance of these lizard like creatures in his lanai..... he said he was "anole retentive"

The ones we have seem to taunt our lab. He has a blast as if he really has a chance to catch one .

The anoles at our Hawaii home hang on the rock walls when I mow the lawn. The first sign of a bug, they jump off the wall and grab it. They also do this when I water the lawn. Smart little buggas.

I remember someone saying they are good sauted with a little hot sauce. Honesty though, how could someone even think of that.
Our Jack Russell goes nuts when we sit in the lanai and more than once has tried to climb the screen to get at them. When she does catch them, she doesn't have the brains to drop them and has the silliest look on her face..."what do I do now?" |

I enjoy the anoles that hang around my lanai....BUT I just got new patio furniture and I would appreciate it if they would stay off of it for a little while...
![]() The walk up to the sliding doors, look inside for a bit and then scurry off to wherever the heck they're going. They've become quite accustomed to us and don't run away when we decide it's our turn to spend some time on OUR lanai... ![]()
