Wow, I can't believe I missed this delicacy during my days traveling in and around New Jersey. I have to give this a try the next time I'm up there.

BTW - have you noticed that when the pork roll slice is given the four side cuts and then fried, the resulting item looks very much like a Knight's Templar cross? Is it possible that Taylor's secret recipe was actually developed by the Freemasons?

Was it Asbury Park that had the Taylor Ham restaurant that was close to the train station? or was it Pt. Pleasant or Sandy Hook?

I think it may have been Asbury Park. If you like pork roll Publix has it. Don't know about Winn Dixie. The problem with the Publix item is that they just carry the boxes with 8 slices. They discontinued the 4 slice box which I prefer. Athens also has a NJ breakfast sandwich of pork roll, egg and cheese. Went there last Sunday for my pork roll fix.

I'm pretty sure I seen it wrapped in the canvas bag in a store down here. I don't see why you couldn't just freeze half of the 8 pack. Ham slices freeze OK.

Default Very Nice

Nice to see so many others from New Jersey who have arrived at The Villages before us. Tell me so I can really feel it...how does it feel to pay 85 to 90% less in property tax's in Florida? Did you call someone up north to rub it in when the first heavy snow hit here? Can't wait to join you. Is there a New Jersey and or a Giant's & Yankees club?

At least 40% of the villagers are from the northeast states. For the reasons you mentioned my guess is that it will continue to grow.

I like the thicker slices.

The Village Inn in Pt Pleasant had the best pork roll and cheese sandwiches of any place years ago. Funny, we were just in Pt yesterday and the Village Inn is no longer, now condos. However, Jersey Mike's which is right there on Arnold Ave, I think the original Jersey Mike's, is now a Jersey Mike's training center.

Thank you for that. Grew up on Taylor pork roll in NJ. I can still remember its signature aroma.

has more than 50 recipes with pork roll. But I think you got one more to add to the list.
