Default Glad to see that the Statue of Liberty is open to visitors again

Glad to see that the Statue of Liberty is open to visitors again.....

Although we were totally aware of the damage done to the Jersey Shore, Staten Island, N.Y.C., N.J. suburbs, Long Island, etc........as we have folks still down there, I never really thought of the Statue of Liberty being so damaged......

Not the statue itself, but the docks, etc. and property damage was really bad. Glad tourists are now allowed back onto the little island.

It was the first landmark that many of our ancestors saw as they were coming over from Europe aboard the immigrant ships.......representing FREEDOM and a new beginning in a great land.

Happy Fourth of July to all.......stay cool. Don't sweat the small stuff.

We are not grilling hot dogs and hamburgers today, but "putting our living room, dining room, foyer and closets back in order" after the carpeting installer left, only to return again in September to finish up the upstairs bedrooms.

It's the moving of all the furniture from room to room, upended all over the place......that was chaotic. But it's over.
I'm glad I said I did not want the entire house done at once.......like it was 17 or so years ago.....this way, we have a little break from the chaos. ha ha. Plus, we will be refreshed from our two week vacation to Maine seashore by then.
I've learned to just "pace" ourselves........guess it comes with age.

I think we will get Chinese takeout today.........not too patriotic but it works for me. My dishwasher will be doing double and triple duty running all the dinnerware, glassware through before returning to the china cabinet.

Again, enjoy your 4th of July.........no matter how you spend it.
Keep in mind the true meaning of the holiday.........

We are fortunate to live in the U.S.A.

The Statue of Liberty had been closed for a year for renovations. It reopened the day before Sandy hit and then had to close again. So glad it's open again for the fourth of July. Lots of people wanting to visit it on this special day.
