Default Best Luxury Hair Salons

Here are a couple of pictures taken at Leslijon salon, near Target on 441. I followed Jani ("yani") there from Dimensions, also a good salon. The first image is a client sitting next to me getting a hand massage while having color applied. The next is Jani bringing a mimosa.

While my color processed, a lovely lady applied complimentary makeup and then brought nibbles of cheese and fruit. Another associate gave a fabulous head massage while Jani sat next to me and chatted.

This time I asked Jani to style my curly mass of hair. I had no idea I could have smooth shiny hair...I think he's a magician, and adorably foreign. He's Albanian and became a citizen July 4.

If you say "Kitty sent me" he will be delighted. He says I have made him famous.

Pricing depends on the experience of the stylist. I have always hated sitting there bored getting services, and now it's fun..worth paying for!

I also have Jani work his magic with my hair. I used Kitty and GracieGiril recommendations. He is the best!

Wow!! Can't believe this is the same salon that butchered my hair the first time, then when I commented my disapproval, the stylist then butchered my hair a second time to "make it better." When the manager finally caught on there was a problem, he then butchered my hair yet again!!! There were no mimosas or nibbles for anyone while I was there either. Won't be giving them any chance myself but glad y'all had a better experience than I did.

I am going to guess August 6th. I went into Dimensions on August 5th to make an apt and given one for August 6th with Jani. When I went in on the 6th Jani was not there and I was given a different stylist that was 2 levels higher than Jani and two levels more expensive and I was not that happy with my service

I've had pm's from some clients saying to be careful about unrequested add-on services, whatever salon you choose. I don't like that either, so be forewarned wherever you go agree on services and price beforehand.

Yes, I used to go to Yanni at Dimensions a few years ago and he was good but every time I went there, he seemed to elevate another level and the price kept escalating. He is also such a good salesman, he'd always convince me that I need x amount of new products to try on my hair. I'd walk out of there with a bill over $300 with tip. I now go to a wonderful hairdresser who has done my hair the best of all the people I previously used and she hasn't taken a price increase in 5 years. Can't beat that. I am a very happy customer.

Yes, I did go to Yanni about 6 weeks ago, I did not get a hand massage or makeup, what I did get was not a good haircut. I ended up going home and restyling my hair again. Yes, he is a good salesman I also ended up buying product.
Not sure if I would ever go back, I thought it was a bit put on, all I wanted was a good cut and style.

As you see, there are reports of people disappointed with the salon and Yani. I have the best hair I ever had and an introduction to great conditioner that I can buy and apply myself. And I really like being entertained instead of bored.
To be open with all readers, I'm suggesting caution. It seems that being careful about add on services and clear about what you want done with your hair are important wherever we go.

What salon do you go to and who is your stylist?

What is with the "levels"? Is this a common thing in other places or a TV thing? I've never heard of it before.

I've been twice to Dimensions, must of had LEVEL 1 stylists because both times were terrible. Why would a salon hire someone who doesn't know what they're doing? Why would a customer choose them?

I'm just not getting this.

No, it's not just a Village thing. :-). I have found the practice in Calf, Texas, and Georgia. It was usually a practice in very large salons. The intent is that the higher level stylist have more experience and continuing education. It's like getting a raise for moving up the ranks. Hopefully the higher level stylist will be more talented but don't count on it. It actually seems fair to me. I would not want to be the best and most experienced stylist and keep making the same salary year after year. No, I am not or ever have been a hair stylist.

Patty, the levels as someone else said, has to do with experience and additional training usually when they work for a large salon. Independent stylists don't usually up their prices that often and don't charge more for when they take classes. (that's been my experience.)

To Answer the question as to where I go, my stylist is Whitney Fifer at Urban Hair on 466 and 301 near Bargains and Treasures. Her # is 352 279 7794, direct line. Tell her Kathie sent you....lol

I guess I never heard of levels because prior to living here I always dealt with the salon owner.

When I went to Dimensions I think I paid about $60 + tip. Would that have been indicative of a newby?
