I'm a pretty big guy at 6'4" and my mattress is important - 8 hours a day LOL

Anyway, needing a new one for the move, and I don't need a cashmere cover, had a memory foam and it's too hot. I think just something mid-range, plush (not firm not soft).

Any suggestions on either mattresses or mattress dealers? Thanks, buds

Thanks John for the post. We are in the same boat. Need a mattress and boxspring for guest room bedroom set. Will be looking for and buying one on our trip down next week. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I had always thought Sleep Number would be more expensive than other mattresses, but that is not the case. The cost is in line with regular mattresses of good quality. If you have an interest in them, I would suggest that you go to one of their stores and try one out. They can be bought on line and delivered anywhere and they are easy to set up. Not to mention easy to move in. They are shipped in boxes.

On the website, you can put together what you think you want and then it gives you a price.

Part of the sales pitch is all about finding your Sleep Number and sticking with it. I change mine all the time so don't tell anybody, OK.

W :#1: :#1:e bought the sleep number mattress thru QVC. It was considerably less expensive then the select comfort stores. They shipped direct to our house, and it was simple and fun to put our king size bed together ourselves. check QVC.com

One thing that I didn't consider until after my back surgery a couple of years ago is the WEIGHT of a mattress when we need to change/make the bed once a week. Three years ago we bought a nice, thick, super comfy and HEAVY traditional mattress. As we get older, a fat, heavy mattress like mine will become more and more difficult to lift to tuck sheets under (we have a "sleigh" bed that requires some lifting of the mattress to tuck the sheet under it. Getting a different frame that doesn't surround the mattress could be one solution for us.)

Anyway, I was wondering if the "Sleep Number" mattress is as heavy as a traditional thick mattress - is it easy to lift the corners to make the bed?

There seems to be an overabundance of mattress companies around TV. I can think of at least 8 retail stores that sell nothing but mattress and beds. Remember these salesman make used car salesmen look good. Mark up in a mattress is about 1000%.

IF THE ORIGINAL MATTRESS FACTORY HAS A LOCATION NEARBY DEFINITELY CHECK THEM OUT. WE FOUND IN CINCINNATI THAT THEIR PRICE IS ABOUT 40 TO 50 % OF WHAT THE OTHER STORES CHARGE AND THE QUALITY IS EXCELLENT.

Sams has good yet very inexpensive firm mattresses. We just bought one for second bedroom here day before yesterday.

We have three Select Comfort Sleep Number mattresses in our home. If it is good enough for me it is good enough for my guests.
