Default RIP too young to die

James Gandolfini, the actor who most famously portrayed Tony Soprano on the series "The Sopranos," has died in Italy at age 51.

We enjoyed James Gandolfini in the role of Tony Soprano for many many years.
We actually bought all of the "seasons" of The Sopranos and rewatched them every winter when housebound with snowstorms raging outside.....they never get "old".

He was a great actor in that role.......as well as other movies we've seen him in.

People who know him say he was nothing like the character of Tony Soprano.....so that says a lot about his acting ability.

We were raised in Newark, N.J. so can relate to his scenes with his mother and his early family life in Newark.......plus have inlaws in Caldwell,Verona and Livingston New Jersey where parts of the Soprano's "stories" were depicted.......and just loved that beginning where the oil tanks on the New Jersey Turnpike are shown....................that is why we moved to Vermont in 1970. But, it's all nostalgic when watching THE SOPRANOS.

James Gandolfini will be missed. We were just saying the other day that they should bring the show back with the younger generation.........

He was good as the military prison warden in " The Last Castle " as well with Robert Redford.

Yes, he was very good in that role; saw the movie awhile back.

Do you know anything about the movie in which he played Leon Panetta???

We checked it out yesterday. The "Blu-Ray DVD" is selling for about $23.
Apparently it was not yet on "Pay for View" on Direct TV ........
I would imagine that the movie "Zero Dark Thirty" with James Gandolfini in the role of Leon Panetta, will be shown pretty soon, now that he's deceased.

It's basically about the Navy Seal team in their hunt for Osama bin Laden.

James Gandolfini has apologised to US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta for wearing a questionable wig to portray him in new movie Zero Dark Thirty.

The Sopranos star plays Panetta, the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), in the gritty thriller, about the hunt for terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, but he expects the politician will not be impressed with his onscreen image.

The actor explains, "I sent a note to Leon saying, 'I'm very sorry about everything. The wig, everything. You're kind of like my father. You'll find something to be angry about.'"

Gandolfini's comments came during Tuesday's National Board of Review Awards in New York City, where he presented his Zero Dark Thirty director Kathryn Bigelow with a trophy.

He also told guests at the prizegiving that screenwriter Mark Boal told him Panetta wanted the actor to give him a phone call but joked that he "doesn't know how to get in touch... This is the head of the CIA."

But we all have to go sometime. No one hangs around forever.

In our morning newspaper up here, today's obituary listed a very young 37 year old man who died "suddenly"......similar obit yesterday with a young woman in her 30's.

At least "Tony" made it to age 51.

Husband is now watching episode one of season one.

They were all so young in this first episode. His mom is a riot.
I notice "Tony" doesn't have his New Jersey accent in this first show.
He developed it more as he went along in the series; even though he was born in Westwood, New Jersey.......

We decided to "revisit The Sopranos".......
