I read this morning where Wildwood is increased geographically 91% in the last 20 years. Why would they keep on annexing property? Do they just want to get bigger? Do they want to increase their tax base? They are predicting a population of 90,000 people in 25 years.
They will need to build another sewage treatment facility. Is the annexation being driven by the city or by the folks that live outside the city? I live in the village of Summerhill, which currently is just outside the borders of the city. Is there a chance in the future that where I live will someday be become part of Wildwood? |

They want more tax revenue. It will create more “independence “ from Sumter county. Currently plans are to finish 120-150 million dollar sewage treatment plant. The extra tax revenue from Villagers will certainly help pay the new plant construction bill.
It’s quite ironic though, hear you have Villagers who are still making long term payments on their bonds for their own waste treatment plant they just had built as a part of the Villages they live in. Now these same taxpayers are going to fund a 100 million dollar plus treatment plant for Wildwood! The city is double dipping on the tax base.

I believe recently Coleman turned down access to annexing additional land due to
Infrastructure costs. Maybe there are other reasons. |
